Many years ago, I heard of Zhuhai on the grounds that it was "the cleanest city in China". Not long ago, due to my work, I was lucky enough to come to this long-awaited city. Sure enough, I'm not disappointed. This seaside city has harmonious old and new buildings, friendly and enthusiastic locals who grew up on the seashore, and unique charm brought by being across the sea from Hong Kong and Shenzhen and being connected with Macao.
In addition, in my opinion, some corners of Zhuhai are very similar to old Hong Kong, and some corners are very similar to Xiamen. Moreover, it has similar customs, culture and diet with my hometown Quanzhou, Fujian, which adds to my special feelings for Zhuhai.

The new and old buildings are harmonious and have no sense of contradiction.
Zhuhai is the city with the largest ocean area, the largest number of islands and the longest coastline in the Pearl River Delta. If you like the sea and the beach, you might as well take a walk along the beach and Binhai Avenue next to Zhuhai Fisherwoman Sculpture and feel the calm brought by the most natural sound of the waves.
Zhuhai Fisherman Sculpture
There is a beautiful legend about fishermen in Zhuhai. Legend has it that Xiao Yulong, the seventh daughter of the South China Sea Dragon King, was fascinated by the beautiful scenery of Luxiang Bay while playing. She didn't want to go back to fairyland, so she decided to go back to reality. Princess Qi dressed as a fisherman's girl and called herself Yuzhu, which is the name of local fishermen. At work, Zhu Xiao met a simple and honest fisherman, Haipeng. Two people, two of a kind, live side by side day and night, pledging eternal love. Unexpectedly, Cang Jiao in the sea knew that Cang Jiao coveted the Seventh Princess. But she couldn't pursue it many times, so she turned love into hate and wanted revenge on the Seventh Princess. Cangjiao then became a dwarf, lived in a fishing village, made friends with Haipeng, and framed Zhu for death. Elder Jiuzhou led Haipeng to Jiuzhou Island to find "resurrection grass" to save Zhu Xiao. On their wedding day, Zhu Xiao and the girls found a huge sea clam at the seaside and dug up a unique treasure. So Zhu Xiao held the treasure high and presented it to the elders of Jiuzhou.
Pan He, a famous sculptor in China, designed this sculpture according to legend: a fisherman girl holds a pearl in her hand, dedicating treasures to mankind and showing the world the light. The fisherman's woman sculpture was built in 1982. It consists of 70 granite stones, weighing 10 ton and 8.7 meters high. It is the symbol of Zhuhai.
Some corners of Zhuhai are very much like old Hong Kong.
Zhuhai Museum
The best and most convenient way to know a city is to go to the local museum. Zhuhai Museum is also known as Jiuzhou City. Interestingly, the design of Jiuzhou City is very simple and beautiful, because this architectural style has become one of the symbols of Zhuhai.
Jiuzhou City mainly displays Zhuhai's local cultural relics and systematically displays Zhuhai's history and culture. Among the cultural relics are dinosaur fossils, jade articles and pottery unearthed in Zhuhai, as well as photos of Zhuhai's development after the reform and opening up. From ancient times to the present, everything is available. The museum consists of more than a dozen exhibition halls, pavilions and open-air ponds. While enjoying the cultural relics, you can't help but indulge in the scenery here.
Some corners of Zhuhai are like Xiamen.
New Yuanmingyuan
The topic of "should Yuanmingyuan remain its original appearance or rebuild its glory" will be turned out for discussion every few years. Yuanmingyuan has been dead for 160 years, and it is natural that Yuanmingyuan still remains its original appearance.
Victor hugo, a French writer, once called Yuanmingyuan a "model of ideal and art", and there are countless articles praising Yuanmingyuan. Out of curiosity about Yuanmingyuan, I spent an afternoon visiting Yuanming New Garden in Zhuhai. Generally speaking, Yuanming New Garden is still worth a visit, and free admission to the scenic spot is also quite public welfare. According to reports, the scenic spot has selected 18 scenic spots among the 40 scenic spots in Yuanmingyuan, and built according to the ratio of 1: 1. The use function and construction age of each temple are also explained in great detail, which is a very good material for understanding architecture.
Food can add icing on the cake to the journey, especially eating food. Personally, although Guangdong cuisine and Hong Kong cuisine in Zhuhai are generally not as good as those in Guangzhou and Hong Kong, Zhuhai cuisine is on the list. When you eat in any tea restaurant in Zhuhai, you won't step on thunder. Of course, if your requirement is "western quality", you may be disappointed.
