On the day of celebrating the 60th birthday of China people, Quanzhou Nanyin was officially selected into the fourth list of representative works of human intangible cultural heritage published by UNESCO.
Nanyin, formerly known as Xianguan, is an ancient music with a long history. It is a precious national music treasure in China, and is known as "the living fossil in the history of China music" and "the root of China national music". Nanyin is elegant, beautiful and unique. It has been widely spread in Minnan-speaking areas around Quanzhou for thousands of years, and spread to Taiwan Province Province, Hongkong, Macau and Southeast Asia, becoming a spiritual bond connecting Minnan people all over the world. Quanzhou is the birthplace and concentration of Nanyin.
Nowadays, cultural business cards are being created all over the country. When it comes to Kunqu opera, you can think of Kunshan, Jiangsu. Quanzhou is a famous historical and cultural city, so personally, Nanyin should be one of the best symbols of Quanzhou.
