Ahava appreciate the song of the Seven Sons, hurry!

* This is a set of poems written by Wen Yiduo 1925 during his study in new york in March. The poet personifies seven "lost lands" into seven children who are far away from their mothers' arms, and cries with their children's voices about their strong feelings of being forced to leave their mothers' infancy, suffering from foreign bullying and longing to return to their mothers' arms.

When writing this poem, Wen Yiduo was studying in new york Art Institute. After living in the United States for nearly three years, he has personally experienced the humiliation of racial discrimination many times, and what he saw and heard aroused his strong national pride. Coupled with the experience of leaving his hometown for three years, he became more attached to his motherland and hometown, and also deepened his understanding and love for national traditional culture. Therefore, during this period, he wrote a lot of patriotic poems, on the one hand, remembering and praising the motherland, on the other hand, expressing the curse to the imperialist powers. This group of songs of Qizi was born under this background. The day after writing Song of Seven Sons, Wen Yiduo called it "the voice of nationalism" in his letter to his good friend Liang Shiqiu.

Less than two months later, in May, 1925, Wen Yiduo embarked on a journey back to China. In order to join the ranks of serving the motherland as soon as possible, he finished his studies early. On June 1 day, the ship he took docked at the Shanghai pier, and Wen Yiduo set foot on the land of the motherland. However, what he never expected was that the "May 30th Massacre" that shocked China and foreign countries happened here just two days ago, and the roads in Shanghai were still covered with blood. A young man who returned to China with enthusiasm to realize his ideal was thus shrouded in great disappointment and even despair. On July 4th, Modern Review magazine published Wen Yiduo's first group of patriotic poems after his return to China, including this song "Song of Seven Sons-Ahava".

Weihai port

Let me protect the oldest sea in China again,

The original sacred mountain on the shore here is.

Mom, don't forget that I am an expert in preventing the sea.

I have a Liu Gongdao as my shield.

Come back, it's time.

The remains of saints are buried behind me!

Mom! I want to come back, mom!
