1. There are mainly Tao Yuanming, Xie Lingyun and Xie Tiao in Wei and Jin Dynasties, among which Xie Tao is considered as the pioneer of the pastoral school.
Tao Yuanming's poems mainly focus on rural life. There are five representative works, Drinking and Xi Ci, among which "Picking chrysanthemums under the hedge and seeing Nanshan leisurely" is a famous pastoral poem.
Xie Lingyun's representative works include Stone House Returning to the Lake, Climbing the Pool upstairs and Going to the County for the First Time.
2. There were many pastoral poets in the Tang Dynasty, including Wang Wei, Meng Haoran, Liu Zongyuan and Chang Jian.
Wang Wei, a poet in the Tang Dynasty, was called "Shi Fo". Su Shi's evaluation of Wang Wei's pastoral poems in Song Dynasty is that "there are paintings in poems and poems in paintings". His poems mainly describe the secluded life and natural scenery in the countryside. His representative works include Bird Watching Creek, Long Night at Wangchuan, Autumn Night in the Deep Mountains and Chai Lu.
Meng Haoran was the first poet who wrote a large number of pastoral poems in Tang Dynasty. Most of his poems are landscape poems, such as Sleeping in Jiande, A Gift from Dongting Lake to Prime Minister Zhang, Going Home on the River, etc. His pastoral poems mainly show the elegant feelings of seclusion and leisure. Such as "Passing the Old Village" and "Wandering and Thinking Back to Wang Baiyun".
Liu Zongyuan's pastoral poems, such as Xiju and Jiang Xue, are good at expressing the lonely and noble realm and consigning profound spiritual pain.
The theme of Long Bamboo Slips is pastoral and landscape, and its style is close to that of Wang and Meng. His representative works include "Zen Realm after Broken Mountain Temple" and the famous poem "My road twists and turns through a valley covered by branches and flowers and comes to a Zen Realm".
3. The famous pastoral poets in Song Dynasty were mainly Yang Wanli and Fan Chengda.
Yang Wanli has a special sensitivity to natural scenery, unique vision and mind, careful observation and profound understanding, interesting description and philosophy. Representative works include Songyuan Morning Cooking Paint Shop and Twilight Field.
Fan Chengda wrote 60 poems reflecting rural life, describing rural scenery and farmers' life in spring, summer, autumn and winter. This work is regarded as the masterpiece of China's ancient pastoral poetry.
