Rambo: childhood

Author: Dong

I am a saint, praying on the platform-eating grass peacefully like an animal until it reaches the Palestinian coast.

I am a scholar sitting on a dark wooden chair, and branches and raindrops are beating on the window lattice of the study.

I was a passer-by on the way through the bushes, and the noise of the gate drowned my steps. I watched the golden sunset for a long time.

I will be an abandoned child thrown on the dam of the sea, and I will be a little slave walking on a narrow path with my forehead against the sky.

The path is rugged, and the mountains are covered with gloomy thorn forests. The air is not circulating. How far the birds fly and how long the spring flows! Further, it will probably be the end of the world.

Rambo (France)

Among the three French poets who laid the foundation of symbolism in the early days, Altrinban de Maramei and Wei Erlun put more emphasis on the pillar of symbolic image-dream. Therefore, his poems are more suggestive, hazy and mysterious.

This song "Childhood" is also shrouded in this color. Generally speaking, it is not so much a childhood dream as a life dream, a sad song of bumpy life, which is the essence of removing that hazy coat. At the beginning of my childhood, I dreamed of seeking truth peacefully like a saint, but the outside world summoned this learned Faust and drowned him in the waves of life. With high ambition, I have to wade through the difficult road of life and go to the "end of the world".

Obviously, this poem gives people a sad feeling. This is a common phenomenon in Rambo's poems. He frankly and sincerely expressed his sigh about life. This "end-of-century" mood is particularly familiar to China readers who are used to the ancients lamenting that life is like a dream, or even "* * *".

Although this poem is "hazy", it is not as obscure as people understand. It embodies the spirit of symbolism "dream"-the objective world is the "symbol" of the subjective world. Under the hint of image, a kind of "dream" is created, which is half bright and half dark and confusing, to express the author's real inner world: in this dream of life, the author's naive ideal is shattered, and he lives alone in this dreary world. In any case, there is only one destination-extinction.

Although the whole poem is covered with such a dreamy coat, the author highlights another feature of symbolic poetry-musicality-with smooth and euphemistic melody and symmetrical sentence patterns, just like a touching dream song played by the author with his own heartstrings.

Like his famous color sonnets, Rambo also noticed the so-called "correspondence" between sound and color in this poem. For example, dark colors, the sound of branches and raindrops banging on the window lattice, the noise of the gate, the dissolved juice of the golden sunset, and so on.
