The empty garden is filled with white dew drops, and there are wild monks nearby.

I have been living in the suburbs for a long time. When did you end up here?

Translation

The autumn wind and drizzle are beginning to settle in Bayuan, and in the evening I see a flock of wild geese heading south

without stopping.

Facing the fallen leaves of the trees in a foreign country, the lonely lamp in the cold night shines on me alone

.

In the empty garden, white dew frequently drips from the ground. There is a single door and a single house with only wild monks as neighbors.

I have been living in the desolate countryside for a long time. When can I devote myself to the country?

Appreciation

This poem is purely about the feeling of being behind closed doors. The whole poem is like a picture with vivid images and exquisite art. There is an old saying in China that goes: A tree is thousands of feet high, and its leaves fall back to their roots. The poet couldn't help but feel something when he saw the scene of fallen leaves in a foreign country. He was detained in a different place, not knowing when he would be able to return to his hometown of Donghai (now southwest of Lianyungang City, Jiangsu Province). The sadness of his mood completely penetrates between the lines of this poem. "Lonely Night Man" in the cold lantern, one word "cold", and the other word "lone", describe the desolate and lonely situation among the guests.

This poem describes the scenery, what is seen before the eyes, and does not embellish it; when describing the feelings, it focuses on the true feelings, and does not make unnecessary moans. Therefore, although the subject matter is not new, it still has a strong artistic appeal.
