1983 the trend of contemporary literary thought published the academic annual paper written by Xu Jingya at the university two years ago-the rising poetry group. As soon as this poetics was published, it exploded like a bomb in the poetic world, and then it triggered a great criticism of this poetics and even the misty poetry movement. Xu Jingya's Poem of Rising, Xie Mian's Facing the New Rise and Sun Shaozhen's New Aesthetic Principles are collectively called "three rises" by critics.
As a member of the first youth poetry club, Xu Jingya emerged with the rise of the new poetry school and became one of the most incisive poets and poetry critics at that time. 1986, with the re-emergence of the second generation of poets, Xu Jingya once again bombed the poetry world with his poetic theory "the death of Gui Biao". Gui Biao's death attracted more fierce attacks, so the publication of Contemporary Literary Thoughts, which published this poetic theory, was suspended. Wang, one of the founders of the Youth Poetry Society, wrote in his reminiscence article: "A responsible person made a long speech at the forum of writers, critics and literary editors. Finally, when talking about training successors, he said: We are not training successors, but grave diggers. He said that the young man who wrote Death of the Banner was our grave digger. This grave digger is Xu Jingya. "
In the summer of 1986, Xu Jingya initiated and organized a large-scale exhibition of modern poetry in China, which was his last appearance on the poetry stage. Soon, with the decline of the second poetry movement, Xu Jingya, like many contemporary poets, was far away from poetry and disappeared from people's sight.
Nowadays, the once criticized "three urgency" is a milestone in the misty poetry movement, which has been written into the textbooks of Chinese Department of universities and widely read as a key chapter in the history of contemporary literature. Xu Jingya, once the overlord of poetry, sometimes went to the sea to do business, sometimes indulged in mountains and rivers, and sometimes indulged in Go and table tennis, and faded out of poetry for more than ten years. Interestingly, his wife Wang Xiaoni, also a member of the first Youth Poetry Club, has been insisting on poetry creation for more than 20 years. When Shu Ting, who debuted together, had already become a semi-hermit in Gulangyu, Wang Xiaoni still maintained exuberant creativity. Xu Jingya thinks that he and Wang Xiaoni are just two sides of the golden shield of poetry.
The following is an oral record of Xu Jingya's interview:
That generation: the rising university poetry club
From 65438 to 0976, I began to publish poems. But the real turning point occurred in 1978, and I resumed the college entrance examination. I was admitted to the Chinese Department of Jilin University from the factory. In the class of modern literature history, the teacher talked about the literary societies that appeared after the May 4th Movement, which gave us great inspiration. Under the background of ideological emancipation, Wang Xiaoni and Lv Guipin and I set up the "Childlike Heart" Poetry Society. At the same time, he also edited another campus literary publication, Red Leaves. At that time, many universities had their own poetry clubs and magazines.
1June, 979, my "Song of Early Spring" was published in Poetry magazine with the title. Soon after, Wang Xiaoni also published his own works in Poetry Magazine. At that time, Poetry Magazine had both trendy poems and traditional poems. Soon after, I wrote my first poem "The Muse of Revival" during my college years. Originally, it was an open-book examination paper of contemporary literature history in senior two, which could read one or two thousand words, but it wrote more than 20 thousand words. The first tutor is Mr. Jing. After reading it, Mr. Jing thought it was not an ordinary student's homework, but a very important paper. The department asked Mr. Zheng Xinxin to guide me, and then gave it to Mr. Gong Mu, the then vice president. Miyagi was very excited. Throughout the winter vacation from 65438 to 0979, he helped me to revise it carefully and recommended it to the "Contemporary Literature Research Association" in Beijing. This article quickly attracted the attention of the poetry circle, and I was also invited to attend the Nanning poetry meeting in April 1980, but I couldn't make it because of insufficient travel expenses. It was at that famous Nanning Poetry Meeting that Sun Shaozhen, Xie Mian and others attacked poetry, and finally formed Xie Mian's article "Facing the New Rise".
Youth Poetry Society: A Prelude to the New Poetry Wave
1980 At the end of April, Wang Xiaoni received a letter from Poetry Magazine inviting her to join the Youth Poetry Society, but I didn't receive it. In fact, the list of 15 people at that time had not been finalized. Later, I wrote to Poetry magazine, saying that I also wanted to participate. Considering that the poetry club really needs someone who can write comments, Poetry Magazine soon sent me an invitation and entrusted me to write a summary at the end of the poetry club. With the help of Mr. Gongmu, the Jilin Writers Association agreed to reimburse me and Wang Xiaoni for their travelling expenses. We took a hard-seat train from Changchun to Beijing all night.
Liang and I were arranged in a room. Like Gu Cheng, he won't say any pleasantries except poetry. He froze there when someone came. At that time, no one was famous. Although we all had different styles, our relationship was very harmonious, just like our college classmates. Looking back now, I made full preparations for the meeting of Poetry Journal. As soon as they arrived in Beijing, everyone distributed a batch of pre-printed foreign poems, including carl sandburg's. Later, old poets such as Ai Qing, Cang Kejia, Li Ying, Liushahe, Zhang Zhimin, He Jingzhi and Huang Yongyu were invited to give us lessons. The final stage of the youth poetry club is to revise its own manuscript. Everyone has a mentor. My tutor is Ke Yan. I remember when she read my poem, she recited it in her unique actor-like tone and said, Xu Jingya, how beautiful your poem is. I felt embarrassed at that time and didn't know what to say. The Youth Poetry Club is a very rare opportunity for me to have a close contact with the best young poets at that time.
After that, they all went to Beidaihe seaside. On the day before the end of the month-long meeting, I clearly remember that Gu Cheng wrapped a packet of pears from home with a small yellow book and sent them to everyone one by one as a sign of separation. Since I accepted the task of writing sidelights of the poetry club, I stayed with Wang Xiaoni for a few more days after everyone left Beijing. Because I don't understand the internal intention of Poetry Magazine, my Sidenotes have not been revised several times. Finally, it was written by our "class teacher" Wang.
Emerging poets: the gap of fate
Summer school started when I came back from Beijing, when I was a junior. Before the winter vacation, the teacher assigned a "school year paper". The experience of Beijing poetry throughout the summer made me feel a lot at that time. As a result, as soon as I started writing, I wrote more than 45 thousand words in one breath. This is the rising poetry group. In the hut of the Chinese Department Student Union, I was writing in a good mood, and I couldn't wait for a classmate to say, come, I'll read you a paragraph! This time my tutor is Miyagi directly. Teacher Gong Mu asked the school to print my paper for me, but he didn't say anything to me. At first, Miyagi was very excited after reading The Muse of Recovery, and made many changes by herself. This time he didn't make any corrections, but gave me an excellent one. I know he doesn't really agree with this article.
The Rising Poetry Group was completed in 198 1 year 1 month. The excitement of writing soon passed, and I was faced with a series of trivial matters before graduation. The article was thrown aside, and even a few friends of the poetry club didn't read it very much, and the students didn't know it. After graduation, I went to work in an editorial department, got married, had children, edited manuscripts and went on business trips. I completely forgot the term paper I wrote in a hurry.
After holding this newspaper in my hand for a year and a half, the student of Liaoning Normal University in Dalian printed the publication "New Leaves" and wrote me an invitation letter. I just remembered that I still have a long article in my hand. I found the rising poetry group, sent it to Dalian, and immediately published the full text in the eighth issue. Later, several students of New Leaves compiled by Liao Normal University, such as Liu Xingyu, were involved in my article to varying degrees and were assigned to small counties.
1982, the newly published Contemporary Literary Thoughts is in full swing. The process of publishing and criticizing my The Rising Poet is quite typical of that era, and the harshness of that year is beyond the understanding of today's youth.
200 1 Mr. Xie Changyu, the retired editor-in-chief of Contemporary Literary Thoughts, wrote an article in Shanxi Literature to recall that past. The title of the article is "The History of Contemporary Literary Thoughts", with a very detailed historical introduction. From that article, I knew that my article had been approved by layers before it was published, and even He Jingzhi, then vice minister of the Propaganda Department of the CPC, was alarmed. 1982165438+1At 8 o'clock on October 30th, Xie Changyu, as the editor-in-chief, sent a telegram to Lanzhou: Agree to publish!
How to carry out criticism? According to Xie Wen, at that time, the heads of relevant departments raised the following questions: "First, how did you make preparations? Is it enough? After the second discussion, as a local publication, can you control it? Is your theoretical strength enough? "
1983 just after the new year, the publication that published my article has not been printed yet. 1October 10, according to the instructions, a large-scale "discussion" meeting was held in Beijing. Soon, Changchun, Lanzhou, Chongqing and other places also held many meetings. Subsequently, began to criticize the "three" and even misty poetry. According to the incomplete statistics of the Collection of Hazy Poems, there are hundreds of articles written by poets after criticism, and the total number of words should be several million. Later, because a leader at that time characterized my article as "deviating from the direction of socialist literature and art" and personally deleted the word "comrade" after my name, things became extremely terrible. At the grassroots level, the "discussion" in Jilin Province is of great significance. Later, the leader of my unit was no longer a "comrade" and asked me to write a review. I thought it was just an internal self-criticism book, but after many revisions, I was surprised to find that it was suddenly officially published in People's Daily on March 5th. 1984! Soon, Wen Yi Daily, Poetry Magazine and Literature Research were reprinted in succession. When I got the manuscript fee of People's Daily, I felt very strange.
More than a year later, a new wave of poetry swept through. "Contemporary Literary Trend of Thought" is invited again. So I wrote the article "The Death of Canon". Unexpectedly, this article led to the final closure of contemporary literary thoughts.
The time to criticize me is only about a year. The situation quickly reversed. In the summer of 1984, I was inexplicably told to travel all over the country for a month without any tasks. 65438+10.3, just after the New Year in 0985, I left Changchun for Shenzhen by train and bid farewell to Jilin.
