Jiangdu City is located in the middle of Jiangsu Province, bordering the Yangtze River in the south, Guangling District and Hanjiang District of Yangzhou City in the west, Taizhou City in the east and Gaoyou City in the north. Total area 1332.54 km2.
Jiangdu was called Longchuan in ancient times, named after "the waters of the Yangtze River and Huaihe River meet here". The founding capital county was established in the fourth year of Emperor Jing of the Western Han Dynasty (BC 153); 1July, 994, Jiangdu County was abolished and Jianjiang Capital was established; 2011110 abolished Jiangdu city at the county level and established Jiangdu district of Yangzhou city. There are many cultural relics and historic sites in Jiangdu District, including a dust mound of Shang and Zhou cultural sites, an ancient tomb of Han Dynasty, a Gan Tang tree planted by Xie 'an in Jin Dynasty, Kaiyuan Temple in Tang Dynasty, Zhenwu Temple and so on.
