Subsequently, the vice principal and four teachers on duty ran to the student dormitory and called the students up one by one. Life teacher Duo Jicai Ren was not at ease, so she checked for the second time to make sure that even the most sleepy children got up. This morning, the schedule of the First Ethnic Middle School in Yushu County moved ahead of schedule. All the boarders got up early, fetched water to wash their faces and had breakfast. Teachers also told students not to study in the teaching building, but to study in the playground.
A few hours later, the earth shook and the boys' dormitory as old as this school was razed to the ground. Girls' dormitories and staff dormitories built in the 1980s collapsed seriously, and teachers moved quickly on the playground with their students.
Dorje Zhuo Ma, a ninth-grade Chinese teacher, was buried under the collapsed house with her husband and seven-month-old child after the earthquake, and was finally rescued in time. "The reason why students can enter the classroom on the fifth day after the disaster is inseparable from the care and support of the party and the state, governments at all levels and people from all walks of life." Dorje Zhuo Ma said that sooner or later, students will have spacious and bright classrooms. After reciting "I love this land", less than half an hour later, student Sonam Mao Wen wrote a poem entitled "I love my motherland".
After Yushu Orphan School, the First Ethnic Middle School in Yushu County resumed classes in the tent. Chinese teacher Dorje Zhuo Ma also chose Ai Qing's works to teach students to read aloud. She said that in this earthquake relief, she had a strong feeling of "patriotism" and "support from all sides when one side is in trouble", and hoped that the children could further feel the strength from the motherland through personal experience.
After the strong earthquake, Yushu disaster area was devastated and people were generally in shock. However, several schools can take the lead in resuming classes under difficult conditions, which reflects the strong confidence of the people in the disaster areas to save themselves. In this earthquake, Yushu Orphan School and First Ethnic Middle School were both lucky. Due to the solid school buildings and the timely evacuation of teachers, there were no student casualties in the two schools. After the earthquake, with the assistance of China Youth Foundation and the efforts of volunteers, teachers, students and local professional technicians, Yushu Orphan School built five earthquake-resistant classrooms with light earthquake-proof and fire-proof materials in just five hours, and the first earthquake-resistant hope school in the disaster area was completed. Yushu County No.1 Ethnic Middle School and Yushu No.3 Primary School started their first class after the earthquake in temporary tents. Although the classroom is still relatively simple and can't meet the needs of all children, the school that resumed classes has become a paradise for children to get out of the shadow of the earthquake.
As Dorje Zhuo Ma said, the support and encouragement from the motherland is the fundamental force for schools in earthquake-stricken areas to resume classes quickly. On the blackboard, I wrote simple but firm words: "There will be a new campus! New home, there will be! " The inscription of the general secretary was copied in the notebook by the children, and the strong belief from the motherland also nourished their young hearts.
The spirit of self-improvement and positive and optimistic attitude of the people in the earthquake zone are also an important guarantee for the school to resume classes as soon as possible. Many children are looking for their schoolbags and textbooks in the ruins. Children either rely on each other to keep warm by reading books or write their homework on the concrete board. Although facing temporary difficulties in life, local people prefer to let their children go back to school and continue their studies in an organized environment, because they feel practical and at ease about the prospects. The children regained their beloved textbooks in a humble environment and outlined an exciting scene that would not be defeated by the disaster. This scene is intertwined with the disaster relief and reconstruction in the earthquake zone, becoming an exciting ode to Yushu.
The same ode once echoed over Wenchuan, Sichuan. In May 2008, after the Wenchuan earthquake, the rescue work in the earthquake area was still in full swing, and the post-disaster reconstruction was not put on the agenda. Tent Hope Primary School in Songlin Village, Sangzao Town, Anxian County, Mianyang City, Sichuan Province started classes. The opening ceremony was completed in tears. The teachers and students of the whole school stood up and bowed many times to thank the fire officers and soldiers who helped build it. The resumption of classes in disaster areas has not only become the gospel for children, but also an important signal for the beginning of post-disaster reconstruction. The sound of reading from the tent gave great spiritual encouragement to the people in the disaster area, so that they could get out of the shadow of the earthquake as soon as possible and enjoy the warmth of the big family of the motherland and the light of their new life again.
The reconstruction of the disaster area is complicated, but children's affairs are more important than anything else, and education is more important than anything else. Therefore, it is very important to let the children in the earthquake zone have their own new campus and put a quiet desk on the land that has suffered, which is also what we should focus on. Not only do new school buildings need to be built, but students need scientific psychological intervention after the earthquake, and schools also need to supplement teachers' resources. All these need to be achieved through the joint efforts of all sectors of society.
When children can sit in the classroom and read aloud with peace of mind, the scars left by the earthquake will gradually calm down, and their vitality and confidence will continue on the land of Yushu. The disaster will always pass, but the great love experienced in the disaster is boundless, but it will be stationed in the hearts of local people. There is not only warmth in the sound of books, but also the power to meet the future.
