What is modern Swedish literature?

1905 The disintegration of the alliance between Sweden and Norway and the 1909 general strike prompted Swedish writers to face up to the social reality and pay close attention to the life of the Swedish people and the resulting ideological changes. On this basis, they created many realistic literary works. For example, Soder Berry's works (1869~ 194 1) and Engtler M (1869 ~1940) mainly reflect ordinary people in the social environment. Bhajman (1883~ 193 1) was the first to be promoted in imaginative plot setting and in-depth characterization. His main work is the Ma Courier family in The Photo of Wade Ping.

After the 1920s, the greatest achievement in Swedish literature was the famous lyric poet, dramatist and novelist (189 1~ 1974). Most of his works focus on the struggle between good and evil, and strive to explore the true meaning of life. In the short story The Executioner (1933), the novel The Dwarf (1944) and Barabba (1950), he satirized and attacked the violent policies and barbaric acts of German fascists. 1940 was elected as an academician of the Swedish Academy Literature Award, and 195 1 won the Nobel Prize in Literature.

In the 1920s, the works of some famous writers who were workers, such as Anderson (1888~ 1920) and Gondor (1895~ 1939), all reflected the life of the working class to varying degrees.

Cork (1882~ 1940), the pioneer of workers' literature, focuses on the great changes brought by industrialization to Swedish social life and the vigorous development of workers' movement. His main works are Workers (19 12), Forest Valley and God's Beautiful World (19 16). Luo Johnson (190 1~) is known as the leader of the "hireling faction". His main works are Good Night on the Earth (1933), Hired Worker (1936~ 1937), autobiographical novels, etc.

Around 1930, a new literary school appeared in lyric poetry-"Five Teenagers" school, who believed that cultural extravagance was an obstacle to human happiness. People later called them original poets. One of the most talented is Harry Marthinsen (1904~ 1978). His main works include the collection of poems "Wanderer" (193 1), "Aimless Travel Notes" (1932) and Goodbye to the Cape.

After World War II, Swedish literature became more active, and many works reflected the dreary atmosphere of post-war society and people's abnormal psychology. Some writers accepted the influence of various schools of foreign literature and created some works imitating Kafka, Dostoevsky and others. There are also supernatural tendencies or mysticism and world-weary philosophy. The poetic style of free verse advocated by English poet Eliot and modern French poets is highly praised by Swedish poets. A more successful poet is Eric Lindegren (19 10~ 1968). His symbolic poem "The Man Without a Road" was a very influential work at that time and was regarded as the most talented lyric poet in modern Sweden.
