To Destiny shows the author Holderlin's enthusiasm for the art of poetry. In his mind, this is beyond everything. As long as the poem is successful, you can enter the ghost country calmly and peacefully.
Compared with other foreign poems in this unit, I prefer Holderlin's Destiny. From his poems, I saw a poet who persistently pursued the art of poetry. He didn't express his extreme dissatisfaction with life, didn't blame everything on the unfair treatment of the world, and didn't moan about his own pain. What I see is a poet with a peaceful mind who only wants to achieve higher artistic and literary attainments.
He may also feel helpless for his bumpy life, and feel sorry for the unequal vision of others. Therefore, he sincerely prayed that the goddess of fate could take care of herself a little, and hoped that the goddess of fate would bless his poetry to be successful. Even if his songs, his performances and his strings can't accompany him to the grave, as long as he is accompanied by poetry, he will be satisfied.
Not everyone loves his career as much as the author of a poem. What's more, he struggled all his life and finally found that his success was not what he really wanted. So I think the author is happy at this point. He never tires of reading poems and loves music. I think it is successful for a person to find a career that he loves and really suits him in a short life. What the author lacks now is the space to display his talents.
Perhaps because fate played a trick on himself, he couldn't find a suitable solution, so he could only pray to the goddess of fate and at least get some comfort in his heart. In this respect, he was unfortunate. He went crazy at 1806. He didn't live a happy life because he found the sustenance of his soul-poetry. Maybe he spent the rest of his life in the cold eyes of others.
There are many unfortunate examples of people who have devoted their lives to art. Van Gogh cut off his right ear, Raphael died young, Michelangelo lived alone, and the author of this poem, Holderlin. What did art give them? While making them famous, why not let their roles become stronger and live like ordinary people? Is the ordinary life happier, or is it happier to be sought after by the world?
In a word, I appreciate the theme and poet expressed in this poem.
