2. Ingenious conception and fresh image. In The Joy of Snowflakes, the poet compares himself to a "snowflake", and the soaring snowflake image wonderfully conveys the heartfelt aspiration for sincere love and beautiful ideals.
3. The rhythm is harmonious and full of musical beauty. He believes that "the secret of a poem lies in the uniformity and flow of syllables it contains", and syllables are the "blood" of the poem. Xu Zhimo often uses overlapping, repetition, parallelism and duality in a large number of four-line lyric poems. In the aspect of rhyme, he mostly adopts the method of western poetry to make rhyme change in harmony.
4. Orderly arrangement and flexible composition. As a representative poet of the new metrical school, Xu Zhimo attaches great importance to the form and creation of poetry. Although his poems are four lines and one stanza, they are generally Anthony-style, with different styles in stanza, composition, syntax and rhyme, and are not too rigid. He pays attention to the form of poetry without being bound by it. The order of placement has changed, and ingenious and diverse styles have emerged.
5. Gorgeous words and beautiful style. Xu Zhimo's poetic thought is imaginative, which is naturally easy to show in the richness of words and expressions.
