More than a thousand years after Abraham offered Isaac, the Lord God appeared to King David here. This is also the place where King Solomon, the son of King David, built the temple. 3: 1).
The temple was destroyed by King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon in 586 BC (2 Kings 25: 8-2 1), and all the Israelites were taken into exile in Babylon. In 520 BC, King Ju Lushi of Persia allowed the Israelites to return to their hometown, and the temple was rebuilt.
