Five-character quatrains about children's life

A five-character quatrain describing children's life: "Children Fishing".

"Children Fishing" is a poem written by Hu Linneng, a poet in the Tang Dynasty. This poem describes a child concentrating on fishing by the water. Through the description of typical details, it extremely vividly reproduces the child's seriousness, innocence and childishness.

The whole poem of "Children Fishing": A child with unkempt hair learns fishing, sitting sideways in the shadow of strawberry grass. Passers-by asked and waved, fearing that they would be frightened and ignored. Translation of "Children's Fishing": A child with disheveled hair is learning to fish, sitting sideways on the moss with his figure silhouetted against the green grass. When someone asked for directions, he would wave his little hand from a distance because he did not dare to answer loudly for fear that the fish would be scared away.

Appreciation of the Work

In the first and second sentences, "Puffy Head" describes the child's appearance, highlighting the child's childishness, naughtiness, innocence and cuteness. "Fishing" is the "fishing" in the title, which is fishing. The poet did not embellish the appearance of the fishing child, but directly described the wild child's true appearance with disheveled hair, making people feel natural, cute, real and credible. "Learning" is the poetic eye of this poem. This kid is new to fishing, so be very careful.

In the last two sentences, the subject of "waving from afar" is still children. When passers-by asked, the child was afraid of answering Jingyu, so he waved from afar without answering. This is a depiction of a child from both an action and a psychological perspective, who is scheming, strategic, alert and smart. The reason why the child uses actions instead of answering is because he is afraid of scaring the fish away. The child's action is "waving from a distance", which shows that the child is not indifferent to the questions of passers-by.
