Introduction to Xiuning dialect

The Xiuning dialect is also called the Xiuning dialect. The official name is the Xiuning dialect of the Hui language. It is used in most of Xiuning County and Tunxi District (except Huangdun Village in Tunguang Town). , Fufeng Township in Qimen County and Shimen and Hengguan Townships in She County on the lower reaches of the Xin'an River near Xiuning (now part of Wangcun Town), with a user population of approximately 470,000. Huizhou dialect is also called Hui language. Hui language is a branch of the ancient Wuyue language family. It is a newly classified Chinese dialect in the "Chinese Language Atlas". Some scholars tend to classify Hui language as Wu language. Huizhou dialect is a very distinctive indigenous dialect and the most difficult dialect group in Anhui Province. "Huizhou Prefecture Chronicles" written in the 45th year of Jiajing's reign in the Ming Dynasty says: "The languages ??of the six towns cannot be intertwined." The late linguist Mr. Luo Changpei said in the article "Several Issues in Huizhou Dialects" (Issue 152 of "World Daily" and "Mandarin Weekly" in the 23rd year of the Republic of China): "Among the several dialects I have studied, Huizhou dialect can be regarded as the best. It’s complicated enough.” He also said, “Before I came to Huizhou, I always thought that the difference between counties and townships was just the level of pronunciation. But the actual phenomenon is that not only are there two completely different dialects between counties, Even the pronunciation of each township in a county sometimes has to be divided into two systems." These historical materials prove the complexity of Huizhou dialect.

The Hui dialect is basically divided into five pieces:

Jishe pieces are basically distributed in Jixi County, She County and Huizhou District, Tangkou Town, Tanjiaqiao Town, Xuancheng City in the south of Huangshan District Xixiang in Jingde County, Hule in Ningguo City, and Weiping Town in Chun'an County, Zhejiang Province.

Xiuyi films are basically distributed in Xiuning County, Yi County and Tunxi District.

Qiwu Pian is basically distributed in Qimen County, Wuyuan County, Dexing City in Jiangxi Province, Fuliang County and the Southwest Langmuta area in Dongzhi County.

Yanzhou films are basically distributed in Chun'an County, Jiande City, Lin'an City (west of Changhua), and Tonglu County (west) in Zhejiang Province.

Jingzhan Pian is basically distributed in Baidi, Shichuan and other towns in Jingde County, and Zhanda in Shitai County, Chizhou City.

The total population of Hui-speaking people is about 4.36 million.

Xiuning dialect is one of the six sub-dialect areas of Huizhou dialect. The sub-dialect areas of Huizhou dialect include Jixi dialect, Shexian dialect, Xiuning dialect, Yixian dialect, Qimen dialect and Wuyuan dialect. .
