Brief introduction of Jishishan

Jishishan is an extension of Qilian Mountain.

Because there are two Jishishan in history, people often call this mountain "Little Jishishan" to show the difference. It is the general name of a series of peaks in the south-central part of the western border of Linxia Prefecture in Gansu Province, starting from Tumen Pass in the south and reaching the Yellow River in the north, and its eastern peaks.

Legend has it that in ancient times, the sky collapsed at the junction of Gansu and Qinghai, and people were in a panic, asking the goddess to settle down and save all the people. Nu Wa took the coloured glaze to the place where the sky were falling-the junction of Linxia, Gansu and Xunhua, Qinghai, and began to mend the sky by refining stones.

After 7749 days, The goddess patching the sky, the remaining big stones piled up into a tall and big stone mountain. The stones piled up on this mountain are as blue as the sky, and their colors change with sunrise and sunset. Later, people called this mountain Jishi Mountain.
