Content: words are the heart, the heart is the will, and words are the sound. Literary creation originates from inner true feelings. The so-called poem is beautiful because of emotion. Emotion and righteousness belong to the content category, and emotion is the foundation and pillar of poetry, just like the seeds of plants. Righteousness is the fruit and profound connotation of poetry.
Form: Emotion alone is not enough. Poetry should also pay attention to proper language, proper rhyme and profound meaning. Phonetics and harmony belong to the category of form. Words are like seedlings and voices are like flowers.
Both content and form are indispensable. Deep roots can breed seedlings. Without seedlings and flowers, there can be no fruitful results. Only the perfect unity of form and content can make a good poem.
This sentence also reveals the multi-level structure of the text: the text is roughly divided into phonetic layer, image layer and semantic layer, and each layer is indispensable. Poetry is their perfect combination.
Words are silent, but actions are not far away. This is what Confucius meant when he was polite.
