Tao Yuanming is a typical representative of people in the Wei and Jin Dynasties. What he exudes is the aggressiveness of the orthodox Confucianism, the optimism of Taoism, and the maverick style of the Wei and Jin Dynasties. His short and ill-fated life can be roughly divided into three stages. The first is the twenty-nine years before he became an official. During this period, he experienced a miserable childhood when his family was in decline and lost his father at a young age; he experienced poverty and poverty when he was dependent on others; he also experienced a study career in which he traveled around the world in search of teachers. By this time, he had basically established his ideal of life to "aspire fiercely to reach the world, and think far and wide". The second is the thirteen years of official career. These thirteen years were the thirteen years when he entered the officialdom and fulfilled his ambitions. They were also the thirteen years when he was exhausted physically and mentally, and was ups and downs with the world. At this stage, his life aspirations underwent a fundamental reversal. When he was hesitating about becoming an official and living in seclusion, he generously sang "The birds in the tethered forest are nostalgic for the old forest, and the fish in the pond are thinking about the old abyss" and finally found their way back. It can be said that he has begun to re-consider the true value of life. The third period is the twenty-two years after his seclusion. At this point, Tao Yuanming's life has completed a glorious nirvana. Almost all of his wisdom suddenly burst out at this moment. We should be grateful for Tao Yuanming's twenty-two years, and we should also be grateful for Tao Yuanming's twenty-two years. Just like his life trajectory, Tao's poems can also be divided into three categories: drinking poems, chanting poems and pastoral poems. In the drinking poems represented by the twenty poems "Drinking", the poet used the "intoxicating" style to expose the cruelty of the ruling class and the decadence of the upper class in an incisive way.
