Guang 'an has a long history and rich cultural heritage. As early as the Southern and Northern Dynasties, in the first year of Liu Yong's early years (AD 420), Shi 'an County was established here. In the second year of Kaibao in the Northern Song Dynasty (AD 969), the Guang 'an Army (administrative region below Daoxian) was established, which meant "extensive land accumulation and security gathering". Later dynasties established military, state and government institutions here for 944 years. 19 13 changed its name to guang' an county, 1993 established guang' an special zone, and 1998 withdrew its land to set up a city.
Guang 'an, with its beautiful scenery and beautiful natural environment, is a holy land for tourism development. Huaying Mountain is a provincial-level scenic spot with the reputation of "the first male mountain in the world". Baoding, one of the eight Buddhist holy places in China, is known as "Emei in the west and Baoding in the east". Mountains overlap and ravines crisscross, including the Millennium plank road, Tianchi Lake, one of the three high mountain lakes, and the Stone Forest and other geological wonders.
Jialing River and Qujiang River meander through the territory, with rivers and lakes dotted between them. Cuihu Lake in Yuechi County has beautiful scenery, and Taiji Lake in Vu Thang is vast in smoke, with natural landscapes such as Xiaoshan Gorge, Qiandao Huda Lake and Raffles Forest.
