As the old saying goes, you can recite 300 Tang poems without knowing how to recite them.
Tang poetry and Song ci are two peaks in the history of China literature, with many brilliant chapters, especially Li Bai's Tang poetry and Su Shi's Xin Qiji's Song ci, which are highly respected by later generations and have been respected to this day.
It should be said that Tang and Song poetry has a solid foundation and fertile soil among the people in our country, and some literary lovers also take it as their responsibility to write orthodox poems and Song ci, and make unremitting efforts all the year round, as always.
Although I like it myself, I am a layman in poetry and dare not touch it for fear of desecrating the sacred objects of sages.
Perhaps my personal thoughts are similar to the psychological activities of most people who dare not write poems. I feel that the vernacular is easier to express and there is no constraint. I can totally let my horse go anywhere. Metric poetry, on the other hand, is quite different. It not only has strict rhythm and beat restrictions, but also has norms such as word meaning, context and essence. You will be frightened when you listen to it, and you can only stay away from it.
However, there are still many determined folk poets who are persistent and creative. When I attended the Pen Club, many poets asked us to revise their poems with manuscripts, which made us feel ashamed.
There used to be an old man in Hainan. He was a teacher. After teaching for several years, I insisted on writing metrical poems. After that, he even wrote a large stationery, went to the editorial department to ask if it could be published, and made it clear that even at his own expense, he would print these poems for future generations to see. Its persistent attitude and unremitting efforts are awe-inspiring and inexplicable.
If you go deeper, you will find that many creators who insist on writing are immersed in the case and rooted in the hinterland, writing poems with peace of mind and asking for nothing in return. Such an author and such an attitude are worthy of our admiration anyway.
