Shuntaro Tanikawa (193 1-) is a famous contemporary Japanese poet, playwright and translator. Graduated from Mo Lifeng Tama University in Tokyo. Father Tanigawa Tetsuo is a famous contemporary Japanese philosopher and literary theorist.
At the age of twenty-one (1June, 952), he published his first collection of poems, The Solitude of Two Billion Light-years, and was called a limb-ploughing cosmic poet in the Showa period. After that, he published more than 70 poems, including 62 sonnets and poems about love.
Life, life and humanity are the themes of Shuntaro Tanikawa's writing. The language of his poems is concise, clean and pure, especially the Zen and ethereal in recent years, which reveals a perceptual oriental wisdom.
In 2005, Shuntaro Tanikawa won the second "2 1 Century Dingjun Biennale Literature Award" together with other China writers, becoming the first foreign writer to win this honor. His prize-winning work is Selected Poems of Shuntaro Tanikawa edited and translated by China poet Tian Yuan. ?
