According to the records in the Book of the New Tang Dynasty, Du Fu and Du Mu were both famous poets in the Tang Dynasty in China. They are distant relatives and descendants of Du Yu, a famous poet in Jin Dynasty. But the tribes of Du Fu and Du Mu are different. Du Fu comes from Du Yu's second son Du Dan, and Du Mu comes from Du Yu's youngest son Du Yin. Du Fu was a great poet in the prosperous Tang Dynasty, and he was known as a "poet saint". His poems are rich in content, both revealing social reality and thinking about life philosophy. Du Mu was a poet in the late Tang Dynasty, and he was also called "Little Du Li" with Li Shangyin. His poems pay more attention to literary innovation, use rich rhetorical devices and images, and show a strong personality style. Although Du Fu's reputation is wider, Du Mu's contribution to literary innovation can not be ignored.
