A thin booklet.
Just ten thousand words.
The title of the cover of the first edition is printed wrong.
I cann't believe it's sold out
Someone in this pamphlet
Tasted a very sweet "taste of truth"
Over 100 years
Someone risked their lives to protect it.
Some people have repeatedly studied and understood it.
Some people want to practice it and fly into youth.
It has a resounding name.
* * * Manifesto of the Productive Party
It is called "The First Book of Red China".
When I first received this project, I only knew that Chen Wangdao was the first translator of the entire Chinese version of the Manifesto of the Productive Party, but I didn't know what kind of person he was. After reading the materials for several months, I think he really should be a famous person.
The creation of "Wang Dao" is faced with the classic work "Manifesto of the Producer Party" which has a direct impact on the development of modern society in the world, focusing on Chen Wangdao, a heavyweight who has made outstanding contributions to the establishment of the Producer Party in China, in academic fields such as buzzwords, rhetoric and journalism. The film is dedicated to shaping and portraying the artistic group image of historical figures with Chen Wangdao as the center, and shows a kind of "spirit of looking to the Tao" and a spirit of pursuing revolutionary ideals, high spirits, perseverance and dedication to the truth through the characters and their behaviors. Therefore, for me, this is a real journey of observing Tao, an ideological journey of deeply understanding the basic principles of Marxism, and a journey of seriously thinking about and exploring the historical process of modern human society and the development of the real world, so as to modify my world view.
Orientation: a new mainstream film with the theme of seeking truth and sticking to faith
Looking at the Road is a new mainstream film with Chen Wangdao as the protagonist and the theme of pursuing truth and sticking to faith to celebrate the100th anniversary of the establishment of China * * * production party.
Chen Wangdao was an early advanced intellectual and producer of * * * in China. He was a staunch idealist and patriot. He worked hard and bravely to build an ideal society at the expense of blood and sacrifice for the happiness of the people.
The film is intended to show contemporary audiences, especially young audiences, the life pursuit, ideals and beliefs of a generation of young people a century ago, and to show the life state and ideological realm of 100 years ago after 90 s and 00 s.
Li Dazhao said: "A German said that people under the age of 50 said that he could understand Marx's theory, which must be deceiving ... He spent half his life studying Marx, but he could only get the gist of his repeated statements in his published books, which could not be regarded as a complete understanding of' Marxism'."
The Manifesto of the Productive Party is one of the most reliable and classic texts to understand the basic principles of Marxism, but it does take some time to really understand it. Combined with movies, why do you want to shoot Chen Wangdao today? A large part of the reason is that he translated the first Chinese translation of the Producers' Party Manifesto.
After the core concept is determined, we need to present it with specific content, or hide the concept in specific characters, stories and plots. Then, the content of our film will undoubtedly revolve around the life story of Chen Wangdao.
After a preliminary search for information about Chen Wangdao, the result is disappointing. I found that the official materials about him are basically chronologically and resumes. Most of the materials have the same content and caliber, and few materials can develop into plots. At that time, it was concluded that Chen Wangdao's life experience seemed difficult to be dramatic. But I think that Chen Wangdao's life spanned such a huge social unrest in China. Is a person's life experience really so unremarkable in such a great trend?
Main line: Chen Wangdao's mental process of seeking, looking and keeping Tao.
With the in-depth understanding of Chen Wangdao, finding the core clues and dramatic events in Chen Wangdao's life from a large number of historical materials, sorting out a clear story line or plot chain, laying out the personality construction and historical process of the characters, and choosing and determining the direction of the film according to the fundamental demands have become the top priority of our script creation.
Chen Wangdao was the first intellectual in China who publicized and introduced Marxism, and he was also one of the founders of the China * * * Production Party. 1920 at the age of 29, he completed the translation of the Manifesto of the Producers' Party in Chinese. Its publication is of great significance: it is the most important link in the process of establishing the productive party in China, and it is a sharp ideological weapon for the advanced elements who are striving for the road of China. It provided a systematic theoretical basis and guiding method for China's social reform, played a great role in promoting it, and inspired and led generations of revolutionaries to fight for * * * productism for life.
Not only that, before the first congress in the Communist Party of China (CPC), Chen Wangdao was one of the early members of the Shanghai China * * * production party, and made great contributions to the party. Therefore, we will habitually include Chen Wangdao in the ranks of revolutionary predecessors such as Chen Duxiu and Li Dazhao, and will not hesitate to give him the title of Red Revolutionary. Such a high starting point in life, how to show his later life story? How to make the finish line reach or exceed the starting point? This is obviously an insurmountable gap in creation.
After repeated thinking, we finally decided that the film "Wang Dao" should take the mental journey of young and middle-aged Chen Wangdao in pursuit of the ideal of * * * as the main line of development (abscissa), and take the intersection, connection and influence between Chen Wangdao's growing-up figures and a group of important people around him as the story block (ordinate). There are revolutionary ancestors Chen Duxiu and Li in these blocks; There are also students from Chen Wangdao, young revolutionaries Shi Cuntong, Yu Xiusong, Xuan Zhonghua, Wang Shouhua and Cao Juren. There is also a complicated political figure Dai; Of course, there is Chen Wangdao's beloved wife, Ms. Cai Muhui, and their love.
The film forms a plate-like structure with fragments of Chen Wangdao's interaction with these characters. With the development of the main line, these fragments fuse one after another and interact with each other, which makes the film show a nonlinear, fragmented or staged structure on the surface, but there is a tight overall logic vein hidden inside. The logical context of this whole is Chen Wangdao's behavior track and psychological process of seeking, looking and keeping Tao.
Creation: Seeking a balance between historical truth and artistic truth
Wang Dao has a time span of 30 years, from 1 965438+when Chen Wangdao returned from studying in Japan to 1949+ 10/when New China was founded. The film takes important historical events as nodes, which form the two ends of the story; The intermediate process is a dramatic and artistic filling based on the deduction of dramatic logic, and these artistic filling will eventually meet and merge with historical nodes.
The translation of the Manifesto of the Productive Party is the most shining moment in Chen Wangdao's life. Now it has been widely circulated and must be shown as a heavy scene in the film. Because the story is widely circulated, how to shoot it well is an arduous task before us. We must try our best to use our brains and brainstorm, deeply understand the meaning and strive for a perfect interpretation.
Wang Dao's overall style is set according to the background, story atmosphere and theme orientation of the film.
This film shows the most turbulent period in China's modern history. With the invasion of foreign powers and the study abroad of China students, western democratic ideas and modern scientific concepts were introduced into China under feudal rule. The violent collision between Chinese and western cultures, consciousness and ideas is accompanied by the social situation of warlord separatism, years of war, political chaos and people's poverty.
What we want to emphasize is the characteristics of this tragic era, the ups and downs of historical heaviness and tragic national sadness, so we should infect the audience with real power. Therefore, truth is our overall style. But our truth is not recorded objectively and calmly, but we strive to create the truth that is strengthened subjectively by us. In this sense, this truth is closer to the characteristics of expressionism.
Style: strengthen the real texture, reflect the massiness of history and the massiness of the times.
Therefore, Wang Dao's image style is based on strengthening the real texture, which further embodies the typical characteristics of that era and a heavy sense of history.
For example, Weekly Review highlights "fullness" in the scene layout, with more books, more bookish and lively atmosphere. People often live there. Chen Wangdao, Yu Xiusong and Shi Cuntong all live there, just like hotels. According to Yu Xiusong's diary, these advanced intellectuals advocate exercising themselves in labor, mixing with workers and propagating revolutionary ideas, but it is not easy in fact. Yu Xiusong works in Hongkou Housheng Iron Works. Because of cleanliness, he said that he couldn't stand the dirty factory, didn't want to live in the factory, and walked to work for two hours every day.
Concepts such as fullness, complexity and weight should be used in other scene layouts, and its significance lies in reflecting heavy feeling, heavy pressure of society, heavy history and the weight of the times; It is also an intuitive display of the suppression of feudal forces and reactionary forces in old China.
On the contrary, the scene layout of the editorial department of New Youth is based on the principle of "simplicity", which is pure, concise and fresh, representing the advanced and fashionable new trend of thought. The room is empty and there are few things, which reflects the revolutionary position of the revolutionaries and the philosophical attitude of life that they are willing to sacrifice at any time. Under the premise of life and history, we have designed some expressive modeling elements, some of which are red, eye-catching and flame-like, and do not have to be compared with the overall warm colors of other scenes. With red decoration and a ray of bright sunshine, it indicates the arrival and vitality of proletarian thought.
On the premise of restoring realism, it also pays special attention to strengthening Shanghai's local characteristics and Jiangsu and Zhejiang characteristics, breaking the previous habitual conceptual routines and always clarifying regionality.
I hope that today's audience, especially young people, can feel that "you can go far only if you have faith" after watching Looking at the Road!
