Why did Yu Xinjiao go to prison?
1993, when Yu Xinjiao, a famous poet, gave a lecture in Shanghai and Hangzhou universities, he formally proposed and devoted himself to promoting the "Chinese Renaissance Movement". He believes that this is a movement of all-round rejuvenation of mankind and a movement that shoulders the dual mission of social justice and cultural reconstruction for the Chinese nation. In July of the same year, Yu Xinjiao published the article "Initiating the Renaissance Movement in China" in the monthly magazine Starlight, which aroused the response of many famous social figures such as Wang Meng. At the same time, many suggestions were received. Yu Xinjiao accepted the suggestions of many participants and supporters, and formally changed "China Renaissance Movement" to "China Cultural Renaissance Movement". In the next few years, dozens of writers, poets and scholars, under the banner of "China Cultural Renaissance Movement", preached the freedom of culture, thought and religion that was not bound by political ideology. Then, in 2006, a high-level and wide-ranging discussion about the revival of Chinese culture and China culture was initiated at home and abroad.
