Original poem:
Jiangshan bathed in spring, how beautiful, flowers send flowers.
Swallows are busy nesting in wet mud and sleeping in pairs on the warm beach.
Translation:
The mountains and rivers are bathed in spring, so beautiful, and the spring breeze brings the fragrance of flowers and plants. Swallows are busy building nests with wet mud in their mouths, and couples of mandarin ducks are sleeping on the warm beach.
Poetry appreciation
This poem is a five-character quatrain written by Du Fu when he was wandering southwest in Du Fu Caotang, Chengdu. After the "An Shi Rebellion", Du Fu settled in the thatched cottage on the outskirts of Chengdu. During this period, life is relatively stable and my mood has improved. I wrote many poems about scenery, praising spring and expressing my love for life.
There are only 20 words in the whole poem, but it depicts the attractive scene of early spring with gorgeous colors: beautiful spring, beautiful scenery, green grass like flowers and full of vitality. Swallows are busy building nests with mud, and Yuanyang is snuggling up on the warm beach and sleeping soundly.
In particular, the use of the words "beauty", "fragrance", "flying" and "sleeping" not only gives people an intuitive feeling of being there, but also makes people almost close their eyes. You can imagine the green fields bathed in the sun, smelling the flowers from the spring breeze and hearing the swallows whispering ... it's refreshing.
