What is the idea of Thomas Hardy's poem Metamorphosis?

We are a part of the world, in which every tiny creature has its survival value. We are a living planet. The earth is a big ship sailing around the burning sun in the universe. And each of us is a ship full of genes and has sailed through life. When we safely transport the goods from the ship to the next port, we will not live in vain.
