On the surface, modern poetry has no certain rules, giving people the feeling that they can't start, but branches, rhythms, images, styles and situations are all important elements that constitute the form of modern poetry. Grasping these five elements can effectively analyze.
1, branch.
The first thing you can see at a glance is the branches. Even if a communication report is divided into lines, it will feel very poetic.
American scholar Keller gave an example of communication:
Yesterday, a car crashed into a French phoenix tree at the speed of 100 km per hour on Highway 7, killing all four people.
Let's try to recite this branch of communication:
yesterday
On highway 7.
a car
At the speed of 100 km per hour.
collide
On the tree
France wutongshang
There are four people in the car.
all
die
It's really a good poem, recited in a sad tone. This point is very simple, so I won't talk about it.
2. rhythm.
Starting from the rhythm, it entered a relatively complex poetic level. Many people who recite Tang poetry will feel the rhythmic beauty of ancient poetry from an early age. How old children can recite dozens of Tang poems without knowing anything. Among them, the sense of rhythm played a role. Why are almost all children aged two or three forced by their parents to recite Tang poems instead of Guo Moruo's Goddess? On the one hand, they think that Tang poetry has more eternal classical literary value, on the other hand, it also has a strong sense of rhythm. Language itself is musical, and this musicality-an inherent beauty of syllables and rhythms is not limited to poetry, but also potentially restricted by syllables and rhythms in daily language.
3, image.
Image is one of the most basic elements of poetic art. Poetry is usually composed of connected and juxtaposed images. This feature is most prominent in China's classical poems, which are often associated with nominal images, even omitting verbs and conjunctions. For example, the article "Going on a Good Morning Walk" says: "Chickens sound like Maodian Moon, and people are covered with frost." Ma Zhiyuan's "Tianjingsha": "The old vine is faint, the small bridge is flowing, and the old road is thin." This kind of purely nominal image conjunctions that omit verbs and conjunctions is unimaginable in western poetry. You can compare the Chinese-English translations of Tang poems, such as Wang Wei's poem "The sunset is white, the tide is blue", which is translated into English as "The sunset is white". "White" can be a state in Du Fu's poems, which has a constant meaning in Chinese. "White" and "sunset" are not necessarily causal, but in English translation, verb inflection must be added to express change, process and result. The process is causal and there must be a related word as. Another example is Du Fu's poem "Although the country is broken, the mountains and rivers will last forever, and the vegetation is spring". Translated into English, it is like this: when spring comes to the city, the grAss grows and the leaves are thick, and the related words as and the verbs come and grow, which indicate timeliness, have to be supplemented. Thus, image, especially one of the most essential provisions of China's poetic art.
Supplement:
4. Style.
What we casually say from the image is "style". Image is a universal attribute of poetry, and poetry has no style characteristics, but which type of image the poet chooses marks the style. For example, Baudelaire, a great French symbolist poet, was called a devil poet because he did not shy away from our ugly images when writing poems, and even wrote about rotting corpses. Baudelaire invented the art of "appreciating ugliness" and wrote about corpses.
5. Situation.
A better angle to analyze modernist poetry is situation. It is not entirely artistic conception, but it has a plot, but its plot is different from narrative literature such as novels, and its situation refers to the poet's virtual and hypothetical situation, which is what Bian called "dramatic situation". For example, his Broken Chapter is one of the most famous works in modern poetry:
You stand on the bridge and watch the scenery.
The landscape man is watching you upstairs.
The bright moon decorated your window,
You decorated other people's dreams.
This is the most famous poem in the history of modern poetry.
This is the master's interpretation of poetry. If you are good-looking, it will certainly help you understand poetry. Hehehe ... I hope it works for you.
