Cao Ding is from Tongzhou, Yu Xichang. Born in Zheng Dejiu (15 14) and died in Jiajing thirty-six years (1557).
According to Cao Shi's genealogy, at the end of the Northern Song Dynasty, Cao Bin's descendants, Cao, Liang, Kaifeng, Zhongyuan, Diao, Jiang and Li, took their genealogy and classics and their families to the south together. At the end of Yuan Dynasty and the beginning of Ming Dynasty, he often went north from Jinling, Jurong and other places and moved to Yu Xichang, Tongzhou.
History: Cao Dabin, the owner of a pavilion in Yuxi Market, was a guest of Zhuang, and gave birth to three whorls, hence the name "Ding" or "Ding". Long, tough and generous, more muscular. The salt merchants who are taken care of sail between the river and the sea.
In the thirty-second year of Jiajing (1553), the Japanese army invaded Taicang. Governor Zhang Jing enlisted in Tongzhou. Cao Ding subscribed and transferred thousands of Jiang Dan. In the middle of the river, he fought with the Japanese, stabbed the boatman with a long fork, fell into the water, jumped into his boat, sank his iron rope and burned his boat. During the Japanese rebellion, the soldiers in the south of the Yangtze River seized the opportunity to strike hard and the thieves and soldiers were defeated. From this, looking around, 30 ships and 500 soldiers were stationed in Jiangnan to suppress the Japanese army.
In every battle, the top master carries an arrow and leads his troops to attack the enemy. At the height of the war, everyone attacked, shot down the top shield and stabbed it with a pike; Never shout in front of the pawn, hold the thief gun under your right armpit, fly with your left hand, pick up the shield, stop the thief gun, forge ahead and escape. He once again rushed into the ranks of thieves, rescued soldiers and caught a robber. Cao Ding led the army and the enemy lost confidence.
In the thirty-third year of Jiajing (1554), on the second day of April, hundreds of Japanese ships came from Langshan River, of which more than 3,000 landed, killing and looting thousands of people, and Tongzhou suffered unprecedented disasters.
A thief is shrewd and resourceful. The top rate of sailors is 500 walls on the river outside the city, piled among the bars. After more than 20 days of stalemate, the thief hated it and retreated to Wolf Mountain. On the 4th, Xu, Su and Pi sent reinforcements to attack the thief. Kou lost by boat. The siege of Tongzhou began to be solved.
Ding was hit dozens of times, killing more than a hundred pirates, giving up his reward, disarming and returning home, and wielding a knife. In April of the thirty-sixth year of Jiajing (1557), the Japanese pirates dug their own port and landed in Tongzhou again. Ding Kai's army, from morning till night, fought fiercely fifty miles north of Tongzhou, chasing a single store in the rain (flat tide), and his horse tripped. Ding died heroically at the age of 44. When the bad news comes out, the world is sad and all the people admire it!
On the north side of the foot of the mountain in the southern suburb of Tongcheng, there are Cao Ding's Tomb and Tsao Gong Temple. Cao Gongting was built in the single shop where Cao Ding died (Pingchao). In Cao Ding's hometown, Cao Shi Ancestral Temple, the Fifth Hall of Yuxi Town (on the west bank of ancestral temple ditch of Yuxi Primary School) is dedicated to Cao's ancestral tablet. 1956, Yuxi local cadres built the auditorium. (If the theater is built directly, the Nantong county government will not approve it. ) Cao Shi Ancestral Hall was demolished, leaving only a house facing west, where several Cao people lived. It's abandoned now. A pair of stone lions in the ancestral hall were taken care of by Ji's descendants and then transferred to Yuxi Primary School.
There are biographies of Cao Ding in Tongzhou Zhi and People Zhi. When Cao Gongting was completed, Fei Fanjiu collected poems from all over the country, and 45 people including Zhang Jian, Liang Qichao contributed. 53 poems were collected and compiled into a book "Cao Gongting Nantong Pingchao Poetry". Zhang Jian also wrote couplets for Cao Gong Temple and Cao Lingyuan.

Couplet with Zhang Jianren Benson.
In the summer of 1922, I entered Nantong Normal University from the senior high school entrance examination in Qi 'an Town. I often listen to Mr. Zhang Jian's lectures during my study, and Mr. Zhang Jian's earnest teachings have benefited me all my life.
One Saturday afternoon, several of our classmates were installing a crystal receiving antenna on a tree outside the back wall of the organ room facing east. Suddenly, a classmate saw Mr. Zhang Jian walking slowly up the wooden bridge and coming to school, and immediately told us excitedly. Mr. Si (five brothers Zhang Jian, he ranks fourth, later called "Mr. Si") lives in Haonan. It is connected to the museum through a side door and faces the school across the river. There is a wooden bridge on the belly of the dam on both sides of the river. On the bridge railing, there are four characters: "The road is not picked up", and there are crab sticks in the river. In his spare time, Mr. Wang often walks across the bridge from Hexi Head alone.
We didn't care about installing the antenna, so we immediately ran back to school and told each other all the way, jumping for joy; The teacher's host hurriedly led everyone, opened the back door of the school that was locked all the year round, and came out to welcome Mr. Si into the school and welcome him to Shousongtang.
Combining with his bumpy journey, Teacher Wang encouraged the students present to study hard and strive to be the pillar of the country, serve the people and benefit one side in the future.
Then, we followed our husband out of Shousongtang and came to the campus. Next to an ancient ginkgo tree, there is a Lingxiao. Climb the tree, climb to the top of the tree. Mr. Wang was in a good mood, so he stopped to watch. Later, everyone followed the scenery, talked while walking, and strolled to the lotus pond. Everyone is full of interest. On a whim, Mr. Wang stopped to write couplets with us. Everyone was very enthusiastic and gathered around. Mr. Wang said the first couplet: "day lily, cauliflower yellow, one flower and one trick"; ("cauliflower yellow"-wine name). Only a few students reported the bottom line, and I still remember that my bottom line was "cockscomb, corolla chicken, pecking and screaming". Mr. Wang smiled and made another couplet: "Mei Lanfang plays Mulan joining the army. In the play, women dress up as men, but in fact they really dress up as women." Everyone is looking for it, and nobody is right. Teacher Wang encourages us to be knowledgeable, thoughtful, discuss with each other and be enlightened by ourselves.
What the teacher taught me, keep it in mind. Later, after reading the Romance of the Ming Dynasty, I felt something and tried to make a couplet for Mr. Si: "Mei Lanfang plays Mulan to join the army. In the play, women dress up as men, but men dress up as women." The bottom line: "Zhu Yuanzhang destroyed Dayuan Jianming, his ancestors were monks, and Sun Congdi was a monk."
I want to use this link to commemorate my teacher!
