Characteristics of Bao Zhao's Poems of the Three Masters in Yuanjia

Bao Zhao is the most accomplished poet among the literati in the Northern and Southern Dynasties, and he is also known as "three outstanding men in Yuanjia" with Yan Yanzhi and Xie Lingyun. Li Bai once compared Bao Zhao to a "phoenix forest", and Du Fu described Li Bai's poems as "fresh and beautiful, elegant and Bao joined the army". He is good at Yuefu poems, the most famous of which are 18 pieces of Yuefu's Difficult to Imitate, Yuefu's Journey to the North Gate and Poem to Whitehead. These poems widely reflect social life and express their resentment and injustice about sinking into Xialiao. Art can absorb the essence of folk songs, vigorous and fresh, full of emotion, vivid image, with a strong romantic color, which is quite different from the times fashion of singing temple poems at that time, talking about Hyunri and admiring immortals, and has a certain influence on the creation of Li Bai, Gao Shi and Cen Can in the Tang Dynasty.
