Text丨The flowers are about to burn
What is childhood?
Sailor Moon? Calabash baby? Haier brothers?
I think childhood is the new year that every person looks forward to growing up.
In 2020, the New Year is as short as fireworks getting wet, with two crackles, followed by a long silence. Even the ice and snow have lost their souls in loneliness throughout the winter. In the warm sunshine of the New Year Next, it melted silently onto the earth, with no time to wave to my old friend.
In the blink of an eye, it is another winter. People have not yet awakened from the dullness, and they are about to plunge into the next New Year. We will enter 2021 from 2020. For me, this New Year is actually no different from previous years. It’s just another year old and new worries.
We finally no longer look forward to growing up, and we finally no longer look forward to the New Year.
Suddenly I remembered what Hu Lan said at the talk show conference: "Yu Minhong founded New Oriental at the age of 31, and Zhang Chaoyang founded Sohu at the age of 32. What are you anxious about? What am I anxious about? Leave me a late bloomer. There are not many examples..."
At the age of 30, for me, the New Year means a lot of expenses. The 7-day statutory holiday, the New Year's wishes of both parents, are The whole family is washing and washing themselves inside and outside. They are carrying large and small packages on the high-speed train one stop after another. They are anxious about accomplishing nothing.
When I was 20 years old, the New Year was a long winter vacation for me, a time of unrestrained playing, the nagging and complaining of my parents that I loved and hated, a brief separation from lovers, and a rush. I was so busy that I returned to the dormitory early for the reunion.
When I was 10 years old, the New Year to me was the red sky on the streets in the early morning, the Spring Festival couplets posted in every household, the door curtains that couldn’t be closed when coming and going, and a table that could only be eaten at 2 p.m. The feast is brand new lucky money and a sleepless night of excitement.
Life is a long meditation, and each decade is a drumbeat. We go from innocence to maturity and sophistication, decade after decade. We go from New Year to more than just New Year. The new year is just a year.
When I was a child, my ideal in life was to grow up like an adult. The cold and summer come and go, and the world is far away. It is best to fly high and far away and never come back.
Only when I grow up do I understand that years belong to adults, and those to children are called years. Years are for passing by, and years are silent. Growth is the process of gradually muting the cry. The sense of ritual of the New Year gradually cooled down, and our childhood passed away silently.
This is what you have always wanted to grow up with, are you still satisfied?
Some people say that if we replay our childhood, we will laugh first, then cry loudly, and finally fall asleep with tears in our eyes and a smile.
I didn’t believe it until I opened this picture book by Sister Sunshine. The pictures on every page were like replays of my childhood. I could still remember them vividly. The children were giggling next to me, and I was holding back tears. Choked. I told her that the New Year in my mother’s childhood was like this. There were no high-rise buildings, no mobile phones that couldn’t fit in, new clothes could only be worn that morning, the New Year’s money was brand-new paper tickets, there were many, many children, and there were many busy people. The lingering smoke...
The baby said: "Can we go to your childhood to play?"
I was only silent.
"I can't go back..."
