Significance and function of illustrated poems

Meaning: Painting, like poetry, puts the image before imagination, but the painter puts the imagination in the image first, and then puts the image in front of people. Poetry adds artistic conception to painting.

Function: If the art of poetry and painting is similar, you can use poetry to paint, and use painting to paint poetry, so as to realize the transformation and integration of natural beauty, painting beauty and poetic beauty.

However, painting may not be so easy to describe poetry. Xin Qiji, a poet in the Song Dynasty, wrote "Good Things by the West Lake": "Although the mountains are picturesque, it is difficult to draw them." The two poets explained a truth with poetic images: painters can't describe natural beauty into pictures without artistic imagination. "Yunshan", "Bamboo Tree" and "West Lake Mountain" are all beautiful, but it is not easy to draw them, because natural beauty is not the beauty of painting, and the artistic image of painting is by no means a copy of natural images and characters in social life.
