Song of Seven Sons is an important chapter in Wen Yiduo's many poems. It was written in March 1925, published in No.30, Volume 2 of Modern Review, and reprinted in DJI Quarterly and Tsinghua Weekly.
In this group of poems, the poet personifies seven ceded and leased places in China, such as Macau, Hongkong and Taiwan Province Province, and compares them to the fact that the mothers of seven children were taken away from them, so as to express their sadness that they were "deprived of their motherland and abused".

Appreciation of Song of Seven Sons;
The overall structure of Song of Seven Sons is unified, the sections are symmetrical and basically the same, which embodies the architectural beauty pursued by Wenduo. The use of overlapping rhyme makes every poem close with the same rhyme foot, which has a strong sense of rhythm, thus embodying the rhythmic beauty of the poem.
There are seven sentences in each capital, the first six are neat long sentences, and the last one ends with a short sentence, which makes the power of the first six sentences impact to the end, resulting in a small emotional climax, "Mom, I want to come back, Mom", which makes the tone loud and powerful.
In particular, the single sentence of each poem is the same, forming a big repetition. This repeated use makes the rhythm of poetry fluctuate, and it is refined and neat in change and alternation. What a sigh, profound.
