Will the turtledove leave the nest during the incubation period?

One of the turtledoves will not leave the nest during the incubation period.

Both female and male turtledoves lie quietly and intently on their eggs during the incubation period, without eating or drinking, and without entertainment. After the other one flies in to change shifts, the turtledove can leave the nest and go outside to replenish her strength.

It turns out that turtledove's eggs are very afraid of cold. When they are vacant, they will freeze to death in less than a day. Turtledove hatching eggs can not be far away, can not have the slightest carelessness.

Living habits of turtledove

Habitat in mountainous, hilly or plain forest areas, mainly in the forest edge, cultivated land and its vicinity to gather several small groups. In autumn and winter, they move to the plain and often live in groups with turtledoves. Foraging sorghum, wheat seeds, rice and fruits, and sometimes eating insect larvae.

The nest is built in a tree, usually 3 ~ 7 meters above the ground, made of branches, and has a simple structure. The nest is flat, with an outer diameter of about 30×40cm and an inner diameter of about 8.0×8.5cm, and each nest lays 2 eggs. Egg white, egg diameter is 33× 24 mm. Incubation period is about 18 days, and embryo period is about 18 days.
