Why is "Song of Everlasting Sorrow" one of the representatives of Bai Juyi's sentimental poems?

Among the sentimental poems, the most well-known ones are "Song of Everlasting Sorrow" and "Pipa Song". "Song of Everlasting Sorrow" is one of Zi Juyi's representative poems and one of the most famous narrative poems in the history of Chinese literature. The first half of this poem explicitly satirizes Tang Minghuang's debauchery and misguided the country, while the second half writes about Tang Minghuang's lovesickness with a sympathetic touch. In this way, the theme of the poem changes from criticism to the praise of the loyal and dedicated love between Emperor Ming of Tang and Concubine Yang. However, there is still an underlying irony in the praise and sympathy. This is a long poem with a dual theme and has achieved high artistic achievements. Especially in the second half, the romantic fantasy technique is used, which greatly enhances the expressive power of the poem. The vivid characters, beautiful language and intonation, and the harmonious blend of lyrical scene description and narrative are also the artistic features of "Song of Everlasting Sorrow".
