a night abroad

Du Fu

a light wind is rippling at the grassy shore, through the night, to my motionless tall mast.

the stars lean down from open space, and the moon comes running up the river.

if only my art might bring me fame, and free my sick old age from office!.

flitting, flitting, what am I like? But a sand-snipe in the wide, wide world!.

In 765 AD, Du Fu left Chengdu Caotang with his family, and took a boat to the east, drifting in the Minjiang River and the Yangtze River. This five-character poem was probably written when he was sailing through Yuzhou and Zhongzhou.

The first half of the poem describes the scene of "traveling at night". The first and second sentences describe the close-up view: the breeze blows the fine grass on the river bank, and the tall mast is erected. He resigned as the staff officer of our time, and in April, his good friend Yanwu, who lived in Chengdu, died. In this lonely place, he decided to leave the east of Sichuan. Therefore, instead of writing the scenery in an empty way, he expressed his feelings and feelings by writing the scenery: as small as grass on the river bank and as lonely as a boat in the river. The third and fourth sentences write the vision: the stars are low and Ping Ye is vast; The moon surges with the waves, and the river flows in the east. These two sentences have always been praised for their magnificent scenery. What feelings do the poets have in these two sentences? Some people think that it's "open-minded and broad-minded" (Pu Qilong's Reading Du Xin Jie), while others think that it's a feeling of "happiness" (see Collection of Tang Poems and Interpretation of Du Fu's Five Laws). Obviously, this poem is about the miserable situation of the poet's wandering in his twilight years, and the above two explanations only emphasize the literal meaning of the poem, which is hard to convince. In fact, the poet It is precisely to show off his lonely image and his sad mood without telling anyone. This technique of writing sad feelings in a happy scene is often used in classical works. For example, the Book of Songs, Xiaoya Caiwei, "I used to go, the willows are reluctant", and the beautiful scenery in spring is used to show off the sad mood of soldiers going out to war. How touching it is!

the second half of the poem is "book". In the fifth and sixth sentences, it's a little famous. Where is it because my article is good? To be an official, you should retire because you are old and sick. This is an irony, and the intention is implicit. The poet has always had great political ambitions, but he has been suppressed for a long time and can't display them, so his reputation is actually due to his articles. This is really not his wish. Du Fu is indeed old and sick at this time, but his resignation is mainly due to being excluded. This shows the injustice in the poet's heart. At the same time, it reveals that political frustration is the root cause of his wandering and loneliness. Regarding the meaning of this couplet, Huang Sheng said that it is "the language of blaming others" ("Du Shi Shuo"), and Qiu Zhaoao said that it is "the five belong to self-modesty, and the six are self-explanation" ("Detailed Notes on Du Shaoling's Collection"), which is probably not appropriate. The last two sentences say, what is floating like? It's just like a Sha Ou between the vast heaven and earth. The poet expressed his grief at the scene. The water and the sky were vast, and Sha Ou fell. People are like Sha Ou, and they moved to rivers and lakes. This couplet expresses the poet's feelings of wandering in the heart, which is really touching.

Wang Fuzhi's "Jiang Zhai Shi Hua" says: "Although the scene is divided into things, the scene gives birth to feelings, the feelings give birth to the scene, and ... hide their homes from each other." Scenes hide their homes from each other, that is, they contain feelings in the scene and the scenery. The latter does not write about feelings abstractly, but hides scenery in it. Du Fu's poem "a night abroad" is an example of classical poetry in which scenes coexist and their houses are hidden from each other.

Feeling: this poem was written on the author's wandering way. Through the description of the magnificent scene of the stars changing and the moon surging during the night trip, the author's feelings of his own life experience and wandering uncertainty were expressed.

Yellow Crane Tower a farewell to meng haoran on his way to yangzhou

Fireworks set off in Yangzhou in March.

Lonely sails are far away, and only the Yangtze River flows in the sky.

The phrase "An old friend left the Yellow Crane Tower in the west" is not only for the sake of making a point, but also because the Yellow Crane Tower is a world-famous scenic spot, which may be the place where two poets often hang out for parties. Therefore, when it comes to the Yellow Crane Tower, it brings out all kinds of poetic life contents related to it. What about the Yellow Crane Tower itself? It is also the place where fairy is said to fly to the sky, which is another kind of association with Meng Haoran's pleasant trip to Yangzhou in Li Bai's mind, adding that kind of pleasant and imaginative atmosphere.

The word "fireworks" is added to "March", which smears the atmosphere of that poem in the farewell environment. Fireworks are misty and full of flowers. "Fireworks in March" not only reproduces the charming scenery of the bustling place in the late spring, but also reveals the atmosphere of the times. This sentence is beautiful in artistic conception and beautiful in writing, and Sun Zhu, a clear man, praised it as "a sentence of eternal beauty".

The last two sentences of the poem "The lonely sail is far away and the blue sky is empty, only the Yangtze River flows in the sky" seem to be a scenery, but it contains a poetic detail in the scenery. Li Bai And he still watched the distant sail by the river. Li Bai's eyes looked at the sail shadow until it gradually blurred and disappeared at the end of the blue sky, showing the long time of watching it. The sail shadow had disappeared, but Li Bai was still staring at it, only to notice that a spring river was flowing far away at the intersection of water and sky. "Only seeing the Yangtze River flowing in the sky" was the scene before him, but who can say it was simply writing the scenery? Isn't Li Bai's deep affection for his friends and Li Bai's yearning reflected in this poetic fascination? Isn't the poet's heart ebbing and flowing like a river flowing eastward?

In short, this poetic farewell of two romantic and chic poets is also a yearning farewell for Li Bai, which is vividly expressed by the poet with the gorgeous scenery of spring in March, the wide picture of boating on the Yangtze River and the details of watching the lonely sails far away.

Feeling: this farewell poem has its own special flavor. It is different from Wang Bo's 《 It is also different from the affectionate and considerate parting in Wei Cheng Qu by Wang Wei. This poem can be said to be a poetic parting. It is so because it is the parting of two romantic and chic poets. It is also because this parting is associated with a prosperous era, a prosperous season and a prosperous region, and it also carries the yearning of poet Li Bai in a happy parting, which makes this parting extremely poetic.
