"Laughing" is a prose written by the modern writer Bing Xin in 1920. Through these three smiling images, the author experienced the beauty of the world and conveyed the call for "love" and "beauty" to the readers. The full text is ingeniously conceived, with natural associations, clear language and vivid descriptions.
Excerpt from the original text:
The tightly closed curtain of my heart slowly opened, and an impression from five years ago emerged. ——A very long ancient road. The mud under the donkey's feet was slippery. The water in the ditch is gurgling. The green trees in the nearby village were all enveloped in wet smoke. The bow-like crescent moon hangs on the treetops. While walking, there seemed to be a child on the side of the road, holding a pile of bright white things. The donkey passed by and accidentally looked back. ——He was holding flowers, barefoot, and smiled slightly at me.

Creative background
Bing Xin is one of the first modern writers to emerge from the "May 4th" and "New Culture Movement".
In 1920, Bing Xin was twenty years old. She had begun writing novels before that. She studied at a missionary girls’ school in middle school. In her words, “After four years of middle school, "Due to the influence of Christian teachings, I have implicitly formed my own philosophy of love." Bing Xin's "philosophy of love" is specifically maternal love, childlike innocence and nature.
Appreciation of the work
The author uses fresh language to describe the "beautiful pictures" after the bitter rain and the lonely lantern on the moonlit night in autumn, the poignant picture of a child driving a donkey on the moonlit night after the spring rain, and The beautiful picture of an old woman "leaning against the door" on a sunny day after a summer rain has clear language and is full of poetry and painting.
The reason why the author chose the scene after the rain is because the heavy rain has washed away all the dust and dirt, and the air is very clean and fresh, thus implying the author's pure and beautiful feelings.
