The creative background of "Beautiful Grassland, My Home":
In 1975, the lyricist Huo went to the Xilin Gol League in Inner Mongolia for a meeting and went deep into the grassland to experience life. In 1977, Huo was transferred to the Art Troupe of the Inner Mongolia Military Region of the Chinese People's Liberation Army to engage in lyrics creation. When composing lyrics to participate in the all-military art performance, Huo remembered this past event, and his heart was touched, so he wrote the first draft of the lyrics of "Beautiful Grassland, My Home".
Because it was prepared for the performance, the first draft of the lyrics was relatively short; and due to the age of creation, the first draft of the lyrics also contained slogans such as "Daqing, Dazhai, Infinitely Good". After the lyrics were created, the music was composed by the then deputy head of the Inner Mongolia Military Region Art Troupe and sung by Wang Moumou, who participated in the army-wide art performance.
After that, Huo got to know the composer A so-and-so. A so-and-so was moved by Huo’s lyrics. After repeated deliberation, he decided to compose the music again. Finally, in Shanghai While studying at the Conservatory of Music, he completed the work of composing music.
At the beginning of 1978, Ma Moumou, a senior student in the Vocal Music Department of Shanghai Conservatory of Music, approached A Moumou and said that he was from Jining District, Inner Mongolia, and hoped to sing some songs with national characteristics. So a certain person sang the song on campus. Later, when Inner Mongolia was preparing a gala show to go to Beijing to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China, Ah gave the song to De, who was a soloist in the Inner Mongolia Song and Dance Troupe, to sing the song.
After De Moumou finished singing the song, an overseas Chinese came to her backstage and suggested changing the lyrics of the song to lyrics that purely eulogized her hometown and nature. After Dedema returned to Inner Mongolia, she told Huo about this opinion, so Huo modified the lyrics and deleted those slogans with the characteristics of the times.
