1. Happy Rain
Du Fu's "Happy Rain on a Spring Night"
Good rain knows the season, and spring is here occur.
Sneak into the night with the wind, moisturizing things silently.
The wild paths are all dark with clouds, but the river boats are only bright with fire.
Looking at the red and wet place at dawn, the flowers are heavy on the official city.
This poem uses personification to describe the characteristics of spring rain and the scene of night rain in Chengdu with great joy, and enthusiastically praises the spring rain that comes in time and nourishes all things. "Sneaking into the night with the wind, moistening things silently." Although the word "happiness" in the title does not appear in the poem, the meaning of "happiness" bursts out from the cracks.
Han Yu's "Early Spring Presents Outside the Ministry of Water, Zhang Shiba,"
The light rain on Tianjie is as moist as crisp, but the color of grass looks far away but not up close.
The best thing about spring is that it is better than the smoke and willows all over the imperial capital.
This poem describes the beautiful scene of the early spring drizzle in Chang'an. The slender drizzle falling on the sky street is as moist as cake, and cake is like butter. It is delicate, well-proportioned, smooth, moist and slow. descended to the streets of the imperial city. Looking at the color of the grass through the rain, it looks hazy, as if there is a very light green color. This is the color of the grass in early spring. Looking at it, people suddenly feel happy, fresh, lively and fragrant, and their joy is beyond words.
2. Bitter Rain
"Geng Luzi" by Wen Tingyun
The incense of the jade stove and the tears of red wax illuminate the autumn thoughts of the painting hall. The eyebrows are green and thin, the temples are cloudy, and the night is long and the pillow is cold. The sycamore tree and the rain in the middle of the night show the bitterness of separation and love. Leaf by leaf, sound by sound, the air drips into the sky.
This word expresses the sorrow of separation from a missing wife. The upper column depicts indoor scenes, although it is a warm and peaceful scene, but the lonely missing woman is tossing and turning, her face is disheveled, her hair is disheveled, and she endures the cold and pain between pillows; the lower column depicts the missing woman indoors and hearing the sounds outside. The sound of rain is used to describe the character's mood. "One leaf, one sound, dripping on the empty steps until dawn." Xiaoxiao Qiuyu ignored the young woman in her boudoir's misery of being pregnant late at night, and just let the raindrops sprinkle on the sycamore leaves, and drip on the world outside the window, all the time. It drips till dawn and doesn’t stop. The autumn rain is endless, just like her separation is endless.
Dai Shulun's "Suxi Pavilion"
The grass on Suxi Pavilion is covered with grass, who leans against the east wind for twelve lanterns.
It is late in spring when the swallows do not return, and the apricot blossoms are cold in the misty rain.
The poem describes the scenery of late spring and expresses the feelings of resentment. "Spring is too late if the swallow does not return." The swallow has not yet returned to its old nest, and the beautiful spring is almost over, which is a metaphor for the feelings in the hearts of Yilan people. "A patch of misty rain and apricot blossoms are cold", a misty mist and rain enveloped a sandbank, and the apricot blossoms in the cold spring breeze also lost their beautiful appearance under the clear sun, looking miserable and pitiful. It conveys the Yilan people's unreasonable loss and endless sorrow in a concrete and melodious way.
3. Yayu
Wei Yingwu's "West Stream of Chuzhou"
Only pity grows beside the secluded grassy stream, with orioles singing in the deep trees.
The spring tide brings rain late and comes quickly, and there is no boat crossing the wild river.
This is a short poem describing scenery, describing what I saw during a spring trip to Chuzhou’s West Stream to enjoy the scenery and the rainy Yedu in the late tide. There is a patch of lovely grass growing beside the mountain stream, and an oriole is chirping leisurely among the trees. In the evening, the spring rain fell, the tide was strong, there was no one on the wild crossing, the boat was alone, and it was full of confusion. The poet's admiration and appreciation for the natural existence of wild things reflect his elegant and relaxed attitude towards life, which is intoxicating.
Wen Tingyun's "Rain in Xianyang"
The rain is like hanging on the Xianyang Bridge, and thousands of points of sky are covered with fishing boats.
It still looks like the spring water in Dongting, and the dawn clouds are about to enter the Yueyang sky.
This poem uses the combination of virtual and real and the expression technique of association to describe the shape of rain and the scene in the rain, expressing the poet's leisurely and comfortable rain mood. The first and second sentences actually describe the Xianyang rain scene in front of us, and the third and fourth sentences describe the inner state in an imaginary way. The Xianyang rain scene in front of us is associated with the color of spring water in Dongting. The word "also like" is used to combine one north and one south, one real and one empty. The two pictures are cleverly combined, showing a clear, confusing and dynamic landscape picture in the jump of time and space.
4. Zen Rain
Fang Yue's "Listening to the Rain"
I sleep in the bamboo studio and listen to the rain, and moss grows in my dreams.
The door is silent and the mountain is opposite, and the body is idle and the birds don’t guess.
The poet fell asleep in the rain, and even moss grew in his dreams. His body and mind were so peaceful that even the birds did not suspect him. In the realm of listening to the rain in the bamboo studio, the poet loses himself in the "object", his body and mind are completely materialized, and the world no longer exists. Rain brings people from the noisy world into a poetic dwelling. Although there is no word of Zen, Zen interest can be seen everywhere.
Su Shi's "Ding Feng Bo"
Don't listen to the sound of beating leaves through the forest, why not scream and walk slowly. Bamboo sticks and mango shoes are easier than horses, who is afraid? A coop of mist and rain will last a lifetime. The steep spring breeze blows and wakes me up. It's slightly cold, but the mountain tops are shining slantingly. Looking back at the desolate place where I came from, there was no wind, rain or eyesight when I returned.
This poem was written when Su Shi was demoted to Huangzhou. The author used the ordinary experience of encountering rain on the way to elaborate on the extraordinary philosophy of life, reflecting the author's unique life feelings: no matter it is the gloomy wind and rain in nature, , or the ups and downs of honor and disgrace in real life, you can take it lightly and not care. The poet here uses the specific image of "rain" to introduce life into a Zen-like tranquility that forgets emotions and gains and losses.
