Liu Genglu (real name Liu Jinglu) was born in Shuangliao County, Jilin Province in 1936. He graduated from the Chinese Department of Jilin University in 1961 and entered the Northeastern Institute of Literature and History, specializing in ancient literature and history, especially the study of the history of Chinese poetry. He is currently a professor at the Party School of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, director of the Department of Literature and History, and a member of the 9th and 10th National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference.
Main works include "Han Yu and His Works", "Chinese Poetry, Songs and Fu", film and literary script "Tan Sitong", large-scale TV script "Dream of Red Mansions", etc.
