This poem is full of refinement, struggle and optimism. These two poems were all the rage on both sides of the Atlantic, and he became a famous poet from then on. Longfellow published a collection of poems "The Bell Tower in bruch and Others" on 1845, which was well received for his excellent works such as Arsenal in Springfield, Bridge, Nuremberg and Bell Tower in bruch. Seaside and Fireside (1849) contains the poet's dedication to readers and the long poem Shipbuilding created by the Federation through the image of shipbuilding.
Longfellow's main poems include three narrative long poems, or "popular epics": Ivan Jilin (1847), Song of Hai Warsaw and The Proposal of Miles standish (1858). 1854 resigned from Harvard University, specializing in creation. The following year, Song of Warsaw at Sea was published. This is a long poem carefully conceived by Indian legends, describing the heroic achievements of Indian leader Hai Warsaw in defeating the enemy all his life, and his important contributions in ending tribal melee, teaching people corn, cleaning rivers and eliminating diseases. This is the first epic describing Indians in the history of American literature, but the material of the poem mainly comes from Skur Kraft's works, and the author lacks direct life experience. The rhythm of this poem completely imitates the Finnish epic Ka Laivaara. Although it was appreciated by readers at that time, it was criticized by some critics in later generations. Longfellow and his wife spent 17 years in a quiet villa in craigie from 1843. 186 1 year, his wife was unfortunately killed by fire, which has always made him extremely sad. In order to get rid of the mental burden, he devoted himself to translating Dante's Divine Comedy and wrote six sonnets about Dante, which is his best poem. The Tales of Roadside Hostels (1863) generally imitates Chaucer's Canterbury Tales. The trilogy poetic drama named after Christ was completed on 1872.
Longfellow's creation in his later years was not lofty, and he was highly respected. Niu Law School and Cambridge University awarded him honorary doctorates respectively. On his 75th birthday, schools all over the United States held celebrations. Longfellow died on1March 24, 882. His bust was placed in a corner of Westminster Abbey in London, and he was the first American poet to win this honor.
Longfellow wrote a large number of lyric poems, ballads, narrative poems and poetic dramas in his life. His poems are widely read in America, appreciated in Europe and translated into more than 20 languages. Since the 20th century, his poetic title has dropped sharply and his position has changed greatly, which is also rare in the history of American literature.
