Explanation of Ephesians 6:10-20

Ephesians 6:10-20 is explained as follows:

In spiritual warfare, we must also clearly identify the target of the battle. This object is not natural man but the devil in the air who has the power of death. The tricks we have to deal with are not the tricks of men, but the tricks of the devil. Recognizing the devil's schemes and the enemy's attacks requires believers to have spiritual insight. This spiritual insight is the prerequisite for victory in our battles.

If you fail to recognize your friends and enemies clearly, you will give the evil ones an opportunity to attack. This will not only damage the glory of God, but also bring obstacles to your own service. On that day, when Joshua led the Israelites to fight against the kings west of the Jordan, the people in Gibeon heard what Joshua had done to Jericho and Ai.

They devised a trick and pretended to be envoys and came to the Israeli military camp to make a covenant with the Israelites. As long as the Israelites did not kill them, they were willing to be the slaves of the Israelites from generation to generation (see Book 9). The Bible clearly says: "The Israelites accepted their food without consulting the Lord."

In this matter, Joshua did not recognize whether the Gibeonites were their enemies or friends, whether they came to help them or to attack them. As a result, the Gibeonites' plot succeeded, and the Gibeonites remained a thorn in the side of the Israelites for hundreds of years to come.

Here, the apostle Paul does not specify what the devil’s scheme is. But since it is a trick, it is of course ever-changing, endless, and difficult to detect. Once Jesus accused Peter: "Get behind me, Satan!". It can be seen that Peter also became a tool of the devil. This does not mean that Peter is the devil or Satan;

It is that Satan set a trap for Peter to walk into, causing him to obey the lusts of the flesh, be considerate of human thoughts, and be used by the devil. They are evil. Although the devil is powerful, their power is not constructive, but destructive. They are the rulers of "this dark world", and their names are also called "spiritual demons in the sky" and "dwelling in the human eye". In the realm of reality that cannot be seen.”
