Full text of the original poem: Life is precious, but love is even more valuable. For the sake of freedom, both can be thrown away.
The author of this poem is Petofy Sandor (1823-1849), a famous Hungarian patriotic soldier and poet. At the age of 25, he led an armed uprising in Budapest, the Hungarian capital, which later evolved into the Great Patriotic War. In the battle with the Austrian rulers assisted by the tsarist army, Petofi used poetry as a weapon, held a sword and a quill, and galloped on the battlefield. In the end, he died heroically on the battlefield at the age of 26 years and 7 months.
