—I would like to give this document to friends who love hard-tipped calligraphy

□ Mao Wenbin

"Words It is a person’s second face.” Writing beautiful pen calligraphy is very useful for studying, working, studying, and making friends. In addition, practicing writing can cultivate good habits, cultivate one's character, prolong life, and show personal talent and charm. Therefore, many friends want to write well. Some people want to learn hard-pen calligraphy, but many beginners feel confused and don’t know where to start. The author has studied hard-pen calligraphy for many years. Now, without being too superficial, I will talk about how to learn hard-pen calligraphy.

1. First of all, you must have a strong desire to write well.

Einstein once said: "Interest is the best teacher." As long as you are interested in anything, half the battle will be won. Practicing writing is no exception. First of all, you must establish a concept. Write well, but I want to write well. If you are not interested at the moment, you have to cultivate it slowly. If you think that writing has so many benefits, you will have the desire to practice it well.

2. Understand the basic common sense of learning hard-tipped calligraphy.

Before practicing writing, we need to understand some basic common sense: 1. Spare tools: ordinary white paper, fountain pen, ballpoint pen, blue-black or carbon ink, etc.; 2. Pen holding method: three-finger holding method, The thumb and index finger hold the pen holder tightly, and the middle finger rests on the bottom of the pen holder. The thumb, index finger and middle finger mainly hold the pen holder. The ring finger and little finger gently lean under the middle finger. The place where the three fingers hold the pen holder is far away from the pen tip. The distance between the pen and the paper is about 1 inch, and the angle between the pen and the paper is about 45 degrees; 3. Writing posture: Sitting posture, with head upright, body straight, arms open, and feet secure.

Three, the method is as follows. Select the post you like.

The ancients said: "The best way to learn is from the best." There are two situations in selecting calligraphy. If you just want to write well, you can choose calligraphy from recent people, regular script: such as Lu Zhongnan, Ding Qian , Tian Yingzhang, Shi Xiaobo, Wang Huisong, Gu Zhongan, Zhang Xiu... Running script: such as Wang Zhengliang, Shen Honggen, Zou Mubai, Ren Ping, Luo Hengguang... If you want to become a hard-pen calligrapher, do not choose ancient steles and famous calligraphy. Regular script: such as Wang Xizhi "Le Yi Lun", "Huang Ting Jing", "Filial Daughter Cao E", Zhong Yao's "Declaration Table", Tang Zhong Shaojing's "Ling Fei Jing", Ouyang Xun's "Jiucheng Palace", Chu Suiliang's "Yanta Sheng" "Teaching Preface", Yu Shinan's "Confucius Temple Stele", Liu Gongquan's "Xuanmi Pagoda", Yan Zhenqing's "Duobao Pagoda Stele", Wen Zhengming's "Li Sao Jing", Wang Chong's regular script, Bei Stele "Zhang Menglong Stele", "Zhang Xuan's Epitaph" etc.; running script: such as "Lanting Preface", "Holy Teaching Preface", "Manuscript of Nephew Memorial", "Huangzhou Cold Food Poems", "Shu Su Tie", "Tiaoxi Poems", "Songfeng Pavilion", "Li Sixun Stele" ", Wen Zhengming's "Preface to Prince Teng's Pavilion"... In short, the criteria for selecting calligraphy are: first, beginners can only choose one type; second, they prefer calligraphy that is similar to their own temperament; third, first calligraphy and seal script and then cursive calligraphy .

4. The six words of "reading, copying, copying, memorizing, meaning and using" are the only way to learn calligraphy.

"Reading" means reading the post. What to read? The way to use the pen to read the words, the way to tie the words, the expression and the overall organization of the text, etc. When reading the post, you must grasp the characteristics of the post. The image characteristics of the word. Create a certain impression in your mind. You should read posts frequently, and take them out and read them frequently when you have nothing to do.

"Copy" refers to copying, which is to use transparent white paper to cover the copybook and follow the description, which is what we usually call red tracing.

"Lin" means to put the post aside and practice according to the writing method of the post while reading it. It is best not to look at each painting and write each painting, but to look at one word and write the entire word. Hui Ren said: "It is easy to get the ancient writing style by copying the calligraphy, and it is easy to get the ancient people's position by copying the calligraphy. It is easy to advance by copying the calligraphy, and it is easy to forget the calligraphy by copying the calligraphy." Copying the calligraphy is the most important and commonly used method for learning calligraphy. It can be said that learning calligraphy is to practice calligraphy. There is no one who succeeds in calligraphy without practicing calligraphy. You also need to compare when writing a post, that is, compare the words you have written with the words on the post. Compare the shape of the words, the length, length, weight, pen, knot, and expression of the words. See where the difference is so you can write it next time. Improvements are made from time to time.

"Back" means to carry on the back. After a period of practicing writing, the words we learn to write will have some memories in our minds. We should try not to look at the copybook anymore and be able to write from behind. The calligraphy on the copybook is just as beautiful. If there is a certain degree of difficulty at the beginning, it means that you have not mastered the memory of writing and writing, and you should continue to spend time on writing carefully until you can memorize it. Only by being able to face it can you be close to success.

"Yi" means the coming of thoughts, the process of re-creation. When you can memorize it, integrate your own thoughts, understanding, taste, and personality cultivation into the book, re-create, and finally go your own way and form your own calligraphy style characteristics. Otherwise, no matter how similar the imitation is, it will be someone else's thing. The ancients said It is called "Book Slave".

“Use” means that after a period of study, we need to apply it in our daily life, study, and work. For example, if you have written a word through practice today, you will need to write it according to the practice writing method in homework, letter writing, and article writing tomorrow. It is necessary to completely get rid of the bad writing habits of the past and start writing according to the new set of writing methods practiced again. If we only practice writing according to the copybook and write according to our original writing method, we will never make progress.

5. Several situations about learning hard-tipped calligraphy.

(1). Avoid being dissatisfied with new ideas and be more focused on your goals.

It is a big taboo to do anything if you see different things and change your mind. Learning hard-tipped calligraphy is no exception. Many beginners learn calligraphy. Today they like "Two Kings", tomorrow they will meet Yan Zhenqing, and in a few days they will learn Mi Fu. , Su Dongpo... Change of mind when seeing new things, and not having a specific goal. This is a taboo in learning calligraphy. It is also the fundamental reason why many calligraphy students often fail to make progress and learn nothing in the end. Therefore, we must choose a book that we like and write it honestly. After we have learned about eighty points, we can start writing other books.

(2) Beginners should avoid flow work. It is advisable to focus on breakthroughs.

The so-called flow work is that after many beginners get a book, they will finish a few pages today and a few pages tomorrow. It will take less than a few days to complete the book from the beginning to the end. Looking back, Come and ask him to write a few words behind his back. I can't remember anything. I forget what's ahead and what's behind. This method of learning is also undesirable. We need to make a detailed study plan. We will focus on a few words today, or a word on the post. When it is almost the same as the post, and can be memorized, we can go to the next part. While facing the future, we must also strengthen and consolidate what we have faced in the past.

(3) Avoid "exposing yourself to ten cold weather". It is important to persevere.

Some friends who are new to calligraphy. Practicing calligraphy is like suffering from cold and fever. When you are not interested, you will practice for a while, and sometimes you will not start writing for ten and a half months. Such calligraphy practice of "three days of fishing, two days of drying the net" is definitely not good. The important thing is to practice for one or two hours every day without interruption. If you sometimes travel on business, you can also bring the posts to read.

(4) Correctly understand the "plateau phenomenon".

The so-called plateau phenomenon is a phenomenon in which you feel you have made progress when you first start practicing calligraphy. After practicing for a period of time, you feel that you have not made progress, but that you have fallen behind compared to before. Some people are pessimistic and disappointed when encountering this phenomenon. They feel sorry for themselves at first, and sometimes they simply change to another book, or stop practicing. You must know that the reason for these phenomena is that your appreciation level has improved. As the saying goes, "the eye is high but the hand is low". This is not a regression but a progress. The progress under the hands is not as fast as the progress under the eyes. When encountering this situation, the only way is to continue to practice more. , so that the skills on hand can reach the level of appreciation by the eyes.
