The original text and translation of the ancient poem "Partridge Sky"

Author: Su Shi

The forest is broken, the mountain is bright and the bamboo is hidden behind the wall, and the cicadas and grass are scattered in the small pond. I can see birds from time to time when I turn over the blank page, and the red sprouts in the water are fragrant and fragrant.

Outside the village, next to the ancient city, the staff slowly turned to the setting sun. It rained at three o'clock last night, and it was cool all day long.

Notes

①Lin Duan Shan Ming: Where the woods are cut off, the mountain peaks appear.

②Flip: Fly in the air.

③ Ancient City: It refers to the ancient city of Huangzhou.

④Zhang Quinoa

: Leaning on a quinoa stick. The fifth of Du Fu's "Nine Poems of Manxing": "The stick quinoa slowly steps up to Fangzhou."

⑤Fusheng: It means that the world is uncertain and life is short. Li She's "Inscribed on the Monk's House of Helin Temple": "I occasionally meet the monks in the bamboo courtyard and talk to each other, and I have half a day of leisure." The relegated guest slowly walks among the villages and ancient cities and feels it in his heart. In the distance, there are bright mountains, standing on the forest tops like fire in the sunset; nearby, there are thickets of beautiful bamboos, hiding the walls of the village houses. As you move forward, the autumn grass is declining and the cicadas are noisy. Then you are delighted to find a clear pond. You can see the shadows of white birds flying in the water and sky, and smell the fragrance of red lotus reflecting the green ripples... The colors are contrasting with each other, and the movement and stillness are opposite. The outline brings such a charming charm to the picture! The poet who lingers among them must be in a particularly relaxed mood.

Appreciation

This poem was written when Dongpo was demoted to Huangzhou. It is a portrayal of his secluded life in the countryside at that time. What the poem expresses is the author's joyful and leisurely mood while enjoying a trip after the rain.

The last film describes the scenery around the village house after the rain in late summer and early autumn. The first two sentences, from far to near, describe the specific environment you are in: at the end of the lush woods in the distance, there are mountains towering into the clouds, clearly visible. Nearby, clumps of green bamboo, like a green barrier, surround a walled courtyard. This walled courtyard is the poet's residence. Near the courtyard, there is a pond with withered grass growing around it. The sound of cicadas was everywhere, and their cries were in chaos. In these two sentences, there are both distant views and close-up views; both moving scenes and quiet scenes; the imagery is broad and layered. The author uses personification and object-like techniques, and vividly uses the three highly subjective adjectives "broken", "hidden" and "bright" to make the scenery vivid and lifelike.

Three or four sentences, the meaning is deeper. In the sky of Hongkuo, white birds can be seen flying up and down from time to time, soaring freely. The pond is full of lotus flowers, reflecting the green water and exuding a soft fragrance. The artistic conception is so fresh and elegant, it seems quite poetic; and the contrast between words and sentences is neat and precise. Lotus is another name for lotus. "Xixixiang" is a rather delicate description, which means that the fragrance exuded by lotus flowers is not a strong and tangy fragrance, but a pleasant light fragrance. These two sentences describe the scenery with color and fragrance, movement and stillness. The two scenes in the air and on the ground complement each other, forming a beautiful picture that complements each other.

In the film, the author walks slowly with a quinoa stick in his hand as the sun sets, showing his contented and reclusive life. These three sentences are like character sketches, showing their inner world through external images, which is also a clever technique.

The last two sentences are the finishing touch. The main idea of ??the sentence is: God is so affectionate, it rained well at three o'clock last night, so that he spent another cool day. The word "diligence" is a personification technique. The word "floating life" is adapted from the sentence "Life is like floating, death is like rest" in "Zhuangzi·Deyi". These two sentences express the author's joy in enjoying the trip.

This poem first writes about the village scenery that the author saw while traveling, and then points out that the sightseeing and sightings written in the poem were all caused by the rain last night, expressing his feelings after the rain. New cool joy. This kind of writing method avoids straightforward narration, and makes the reading gentle and implicit, and has endless aftertaste.
