Because the Yellow River valley ruled by the Northern Dynasties has experienced long-term wars since the end of the Western Jin Dynasty, and the emperors in the early years of the Northern Wei Dynasty did not pay enough attention to Chinese culture, the poetry creation in the Northern Dynasties was far less prosperous than that in the Southern Dynasties, and few works were handed down.
The rise of literati poetry in the Northern Dynasties was very late. Before Emperor Hongdi, there were not many literati, and only some four-character poems by Zong Qin and Duan Chenggen, as well as the imitation of Han Yuefu's Journey to Luo Fu, have been handed down to this day.
