The following are recommended three ancient poems about children's play:
1. "Village Dwelling" by Qing Gaoding
The grass grows and the orioles fly in the February sky. The willows on the embankment are drunk with spring smoke.
Children come back early from school and are busy flying kites in the east wind.
Translation
In the second month of the lunar calendar, the grass in and around the village gradually sprouts and grows, and orioles fly here and there. The willows are covered with long green branches, swaying in the wind, as if gently stroking the embankment. The water vapor that evaporates between the water and vegetation condenses like smoke. Willow seemed to be fascinated by this rich scenery. After school, the children in the village went home very early without any delay. They hurriedly took advantage of the strong east wind to fly their kites into the blue sky.
2. "Xugongdian, Suxin City" Author: Yang Wanli of Tang Dynasty
The fence is sparse and one foot deep, and the flowers on the tree heads have not yet formed shade.
Children hurriedly chased the yellow butterfly, flying into the cauliflower and nowhere to be found.
Translation: Beside the sparse fence, there is a path leading into the distance. The flowers on the trees have withered, but the newly grown leaves cannot yet form dense shade. The children ran, chasing the fluttering yellow butterflies, but the butterflies flew into a patch of golden cauliflower, and the children could no longer find them.
3. "Children's Fishing" author: Tang Hu Linneng
A child with a shaggy head is learning to fish, sitting sideways with berries and moss reflected on his body.
Passers-by ask questions and wave, fearing that they will be frightened and ignored.
Translation: A child with disheveled hair and immature face was learning to fish by the river. He was sitting sideways in the grass, with his figure hidden by the weeds. Passers-by walking wanted to ask him for directions, but Xiao'er waved his hand to the passers-by, afraid of disturbing the fish and did not dare to respond.
