What trend did poetry develop after the failure of Cuba’s struggle for independence?

In poetry, there is a tendency to escape reality and emphasize sensory stimulation. Rafael Maria Mendivi (1821-1886), the second generation of Cuban Romantic poets, is famous for his "Dew", which praises nature. Joaquín Lorenzo Luaces (1826-1867) wrote patriotic poems. Most of Juan Clemente Senea's (1832-1871) poems are about night, loneliness, and tombs, with a gloomy mood. He also wrote poems expressing desolate patriotic moods, but "Fidelia", in which he misses his past lover, is the best. The poems of the poetess Luisa Pérez de Zambrana (1835-1922) focused on personal misfortunes. The female writer Gertrudis Gomez de Avellaneda (1814-1873) contributed to the Cuban poetry innovation movement and won praise both at home and in Spain.
