Tang poetry is a literary genre developed in the Tang Dynasty, which is neat in writing and pays attention to rhythm. The number of words in a single sentence is divided into five words and seven words, and the length is divided into quatrains, metrical poems and Yuefu.
Tang poetry can be divided into four stages: early Tang, prosperous Tang, middle Tang and late Tang.
1. Early Tang Dynasty
Poets in the early Tang Dynasty inherited the palace poems of the Southern Dynasties, with beautiful ci style, represented by Shangguan style. The main poets are Li Shimin, Yu Shinan, Yan Liang, Li Baiyao, Shangguan Yi and Shangguan Waner.
In the middle Tang Dynasty, the poets were represented by the four friends of the article, namely Li Qiao, Su Weidao, Cui Rong and Du Fu. The representative figures of Shen Songti are Shen Quanqi and Song. On the one hand, they are contaminated with the habits of palace poems, and on the other hand, they have written some good poems describing true feelings.
Poets in the middle and late Tang Dynasty mainly include Wang Ji and four famous poets in the early Tang Dynasty, namely, Yang Jiong, Lu and so on. They swept away the lazy style of court poems and described real life.
Chen Ziang is a poet who made great achievements in the theory and practice of poetry innovation in the early Tang Dynasty. He boldly engaged in poetry innovation, full of enthusiasm and smooth momentum. He was a great poet from the early Tang Dynasty to the prosperous Tang Dynasty.
2. Tang Dynasty
There were many schools of poets in the prosperous Tang Dynasty.
Zhang Jiuling, Wang Wan, four friends of Wuzhong, He, Bao Rong, Zhang Xu.
Pastoral schools include Meng Haoran, Wang Wei, Chu Guangxi, Chang Jian, Zuyong, Qi, and so on.
Frontier poets include Gao Shi, Cen Can, Wang Changling, Wang Zhihuan, Cui Hao and Li Qi.
Li Bai, a great poet, is known as a poet. He wrote a large number of political lyric poems, which fully demonstrated the poet's extraordinary ambition, unrestrained passion and chivalrous spirit, and also embodied the typical tone of poetry in the prosperous Tang Dynasty.
Du Fu is a great poet, known as a poet saint. Most of his poems are about social unrest, political darkness and people's sufferings, and are known as the history of poetry. He is the pioneer of the new Yuefu poetry style. His Yuefu poems contributed to the development of the new Yuefu movement in the middle Tang Dynasty.
3. Middle Tang Dynasty
Jie Yuan, Gu Kuang Zhi, Rong Hong and Dai Shulun, poets of Yuefu in the middle and early Tang Dynasty, inherited the spirit of Du Fu's Yuefu poems, and created poems accusing court officials and expressing people's sufferings.
After Wang Meng in the prosperous Tang Dynasty, the water poems in Middle Tangshan also developed. The main poets are Liu Changqing and Wei.
At this time, frontier poems are still continuing, and the representative poets are Li Yi and Lu Lun.
Ten talented people in Dali include Qian Qi, Lu Lun, Ji Zhongfu, Han Yi, Si Kongshu, Miao Fa, Cui Dong, Geng Biao, Xia Houshen and Li Duan. Their poems rarely reflect social unrest and people's sufferings, and most of them are sung in harmony. The basic themes of their poems are praising the peaceful rise, mountains and rivers and seclusion.
Under the leadership of the great poet Bai Juyi, the new Yuefu movement was in full swing in the middle Tang Dynasty. Besides Bai Juyi, the main poets are Yuan Zhen and Zhang Jihe Jincon. The main purpose of the new Yuefu movement is to criticize reality.
Han Yu, Meng Jiao, Jia Dao, Lu Tong and Ma Yi. They are different schools, which introduce new language styles and composition techniques into the poetry world, thus expanding the field of poetry, but also bringing some unhealthy trends, such as taking literature as poetry, stressing scholarship, discussing in succession and pursuing strangeness.
Besides Bai Yuan School and Han Meng School, Liu Yuxi and Liu Zongyuan were also outstanding poets in the middle Tang Dynasty. Their poems also have a great influence on later generations.
Li He was a very creative poet in the middle Tang Dynasty. In the poetry circle of the middle Tang Dynasty, and even in the whole history of poetry, he can be said to be a talented poet who has sprung up suddenly and is unique.
4. Late Tang Dynasty
There were two schools of poetry in the early stage of the late Tang Dynasty. Du Mu, Zhang Hu, Xu Hun, Zhao Wei, Ma Dai, Liu Cang and others are heroic, healthy and sad, and they often express their feelings of decline in historical mourning.
Li Shangyin, Wen, Duan and others wrote many colorful works, which started the gorgeous poetic style of saving the poor and dying since Meng Jiao and Jia Dao.
Du Mu and Li Shangyin, also known as "Little Du Li", are outstanding poets in the late Tang Dynasty. Du is calm, sad and heroic, while Li Shangyin belongs to melancholy, profound thinking and forms his own family.
Poetry in the late Tang Dynasty is also divided into two factions. One is Luo Yin, Nie, Du Xunhe, Pi Rixiu, Lu Guimeng and other cynical poets. A group of beautiful poets include Wei Zhuang, Si Kongtu, Zheng Gu and Han Wo. They are all good at close body, generally more slender and less simple, more straightforward and less subtle, more beautiful sentences and less articles, more carvings and less harmony.
