William Empson's Personality Review

Empson didn't write many poems in his life, and only more than 50 poems were collected in 1955. Influenced by metaphysics and T.S. Eliot, these poems reflect the ideological confusion and inner pain of modern intellectuals in a rigorous classical form.

Empson's talent and intelligence are extremely high. 1930 published literary theory monograph "hazy seven types". He won the first place in mathematics and English in Cambridge. After mathematics, he turned to literature, which is the high foot of Chase, a famous literary theorist in Cambridge.

His poetry creation is the product of "loneliness and suffering".
