On April 28th, 1928 (the ninth day of March), the troops of the Autumn Harvest Uprising led by Mao Zedong and some troops of the Xiangnan Uprising and Nanchang Uprising led by Zhu De and Chen Yi successfully joined forces in Jinggangshan (formerly Longshi Town, Ninggang County), which was an important historical event in the history of the China People's Liberation Army.
After Jinggangshan joined forces, according to the decision of the Southern Hunan Special Committee, the two armies were co-edited as the Fourth Army of the Workers and Peasants Revolutionary Army. Strengthening the revolutionary armed forces in Jinggangshan is of far-reaching significance for consolidating and expanding China's first rural revolutionary base and promoting the development of the national revolutionary cause.
Historical significance
Joining forces in Jinggangshan dealt a great blow to the arrogance of the Kuomintang reactionaries, preserved a large number of resolute political and military cadres of the Red Army, gathered the essence of the armed forces along the Hunan-Jiangxi border, and strengthened the armed forces in the Jinggangshan revolutionary base area.
It has strengthened the confidence and determination of the party and the masses in the border area to establish and develop the political power in the middle part of the Luoxiao Mountains, which is of great significance in the revolutionary history of China.
